It's good to see that free speech is still at the centre of our system. And no, I didn't vote for them. But hey, at least I voted.

I also voted.  Again, not for them.

I'm a pacifist but if someone was to accidently on purpose maim him with say... a bullet... I wouldn't complain.

Jared visited the forum at the end of May, and dropped me a PM to thank me for the birthday card I had sent him. He also told me he was taking an extended break from the site, and didn't know whether he would be backCry. This was very sad news for me, since he was one the best team mates one could wish for, and a good friend. Thankfully, it seems he likes the place where he works now, though as you can imagine he's up to his neck in work.

I also hope Steve is doing well... He is one of my favourite people on PA; and I really miss him.

A fine British tradition of political engagement being upheld there - I'm sure that level of robust debate was warmly welcomed. I seem to remember John Prescott gave an equally robust response.

Probably the only Wednesday night I can't make in 2009 and we go and pick itOuch

I know the RiverGarden well, too - John who runs the Rushcutters (next pub along) is part of our football crew and they serve ace food so I would have tried to entice you in there. Can't make it 'cos of domestic upheavals of a majestic scale - the fact I've been offline for about five days tells its own story!

Really sorry but if you're round here for a while make a post and I'll be there next time - short notice isn't a problem normally.

Have a good'un and I'll see you both next time - for sure.

Yeah all's sort of cool - thanks Jim.

If I say it's mainly to do with Mrs Dingo's number one son and his partner, estate agents, two-faced vendors and his first-ever purchase on the point of falling through 'cos of what I can only describe as dubious professional practise, you might get the picture...

Not life or limb-threatening, but a pain in the ass nonetheless. If we don't get it sorted very soon it will exchange to a different party on Friday, so some midnight oil may well have to be burned in the next couple of days.

I wouldn't mind but we've done everything by the book (I should put this in the Ranting Room, but as I'm here), offered the full asking price and shown up with the cash - all of it. The other bloke made an offer just after Christmas, struggled to get a mortgage, has offered £x000 less than us and the vendors are still reluctant to accept our cash. They might get some sort of perverse kick out of what virtually amount to a contract race, but no-one on our side does, for sure.

End of rant. I'm fine thanks and looking forward to seeing the guys next time.

Whoa - sounds a rough deal had by all on your side... So glad all that's well behind us; we've been in our place 18 years & no plans to move in the near future.

Hang in there.

Buying and selling a house is the way to bring out all the morons. We sold our old house ten years ago at the third acceptance of offer. You think you have a sale and the so and so's pull out. After that experience I think that as soon as an offer is accepted both parties should deposit say £10,000 with a third party. If the seller or the buyer pull out then they lose the ten grand. This way would remove the time wasters. Watch out for the solicitors too. We weren't told about the buyers putting back the moving date a couple of days until noon on the originally agreed day. Good job we weren't in a chain or there could have been a major problem. Anyway I made sure that they didn't bank the sale cheque over the weekend. As soon as I knew they had the money I was down there in a trice and banked the money into my account. Useless gits Angry

Hey folks. Looks like the Cambridge meeting idea won't work for me. I just got the conference programme, and I'm invited to two evening sessions (one of which is a dinner, so that's not bad).
