Is that a bypass that means that all Alton, Medstead and Alresford residents pay our Internet bills?

AOL = Arseholes Online WinkEmbarrassed

That's not about the people who use AOL but rather the company themselves.

No, that's definitely about the people - always has been and always will be - I've had that thrown at me since the days of IIRC and Newsnet BBs - and sadly have to agree with them - I only stayed with them for the Ad-free free webspace and now that's gone.

You're complaining about 54 Mbps?  Ermm

If the router is communicating over 802.11g, that's the max bitrate anyway, regardless of the rate of the incoming data stream.

I am.  I should be able to get 108 Mbps.

This is the router:

http://www.netgear.co.uk/wireless_broadband_router_dg834gt.php

So it's 802.11b not g.

That's a super G - but it will only do 108 Mbps if your PC/laptop supports 108 as well. Very likely it doesn't, most systems come with 54Mbps cards.

..and you won't notice any improvement in your internet connection, or download data-rates - only in peer to peer transfers between PCs on your home network, and only if both PCs are 108Mbps enabled.

Three 45 gallon drums overflowing into  a 10 foot deep 15 foot diameter underground tank (~11,000 gallons) fed from all the downpipes from around the house. During one storm it filled one 45 gallon drum in 15 minutes. Approve

We have two or three water butts in our garden.  I don't think they're quite on Dean's level though.

I'm fairly sure my mother's PC was getting 108 Mbps with that router.  Her old machine did, I've not checked this new one of hers.

How do I enable the 108 Mbps. on my laptop, if I have a 108 Mbps card (not sure if I have or not)?

Addendum: I have set it as 802.11b and g in the Netgear settiings via 192.168.0.1 -- is that what you're referring to?

Also, I want to set Jim's pulse racing by saying a name...

Dr. Alice Roberts.

Oooh.

That reminds me, I must watch part 3 of her series on iPlayer.  It's been fascinating so far and that's not just due to her somewhat lovely apparel.
