Its funny you should say that as I have a really hard time liking Disoc Volante, though my appreciaion for it is quite high. On the other hand I've loved In a Flesh Aquarium from the first listen and cant wait for them to come to Europe on Dream Theaters Prog Nation tour this autumn. |

Disco Volante is easily their most difficult to get into. It is also their most structurally challenging and most experimental.....but I find all of these charms endearing and it is my favorite album of theirs... |

Hi FruMp!
1st, just wanted to say to you that there are few, but some of us "get it", and I am glad to see your Music tastes in PrOg are WIDE, I think the more we as proggers explore, the more we can learn alot, but you really have to "listen", take the time, put on the Headphones and explore the space. But if you don't like it . . . oh well, you gave it a shot . So without any controversy (I hope), there was my 10cents. I wanted to add this Link below because I found it the perfect forum for Math/Tech of Thrash/Death/Prog-Metal. I'm always on the lookout for new and old Bands. Also, PrOgulus is a great place to request this kind of PrOg as well (theres my plug), and every other Sub-Genre. Hope you guys enjoy . I honestly cannot believe how much better the European lineup for prognation is than north america, to be honest I could care less for Zappa Plays Zappa and Pain of Salvation. Beardfish is alright, not as heavey as most of the stuff I'm into lately, but I can appreciate it. On the other hand, you guys have Unexpect, I actually can't put into words how good they are, and Opeth..which is well...Opeth, absolutley amazing. Lucky b*****d

Dysrhythmia News: 5/13 - The new record 'Psychic Maps' will be out on July 7th via Relapse Records. You can go to our myspace page to see some pictures from the recording session. We'll be uploading a track from the new album shortly. Keep an eye out! A short East coast tour is in the works for July 18-26th. A full US tour will happen mid-Sept thru mid-October. Dates coming soon.
In other related news, Colin Marston and Kevin Hufnagel have both just joined recently-reactivated progressive death metal masters Gorguts. A new album is being written now. Edited by Plankowner - May 26 2009 at 23:40 |

Look what thread you're in when talking about Prognation. If I had to just take a stab in the dark, I'd say people here prefer the 1st lineup because it's 2 Tech/Extreme bands and a metal-ish band compared to no Tech/Extreme bands and 2 metal-ish bands.
Though seeing Zappa might be like being born again.

Yep indeed it is. Great experience Zappa plays Zappa. I won´t say another word about it in this thread though.

Amogh Symphony - Abolishing the Obsolete System (India) http://www.myspace.com/mohenjadaro Hell, preview of this album sounds neat. Cant wait to get the full-lenght (which is already released) I like that delicious bass and some decent ethnic feeling. |

When I first got that album, heard it once, didn't hear it again for ages. A few months later came back to it and listened to it everyday for about 3 weeks straight I think. |

Incredible album, I saw them with Meshuggah and Cynic in February, and I just got my tickets a few weeks ago to see them with Atheist!
Seriously, Planetary Duality is amazing, I listen to it every other day at least.
