I'm very interested in Exivious but if they're going to self promote they need download options. 20 euros or more to get it shipped to the U.S. is a lot to risk on a new band. I don't know the exchange rate right now but that's alot for a CD.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

approximately $30 or so. It is well worth it if you ask me...... but cerainly they must have a myspace page, and while I cannot access it here at work, I can send you another link that may point you in the right direction:

I may take your word on it as ohm and cynic were among my favorite albums of 2008. By your description this may be closer to what I've been wanting than anything out there.

The first FULL LENGTH Fleurety (Min Tid Skall Komme) is outstanding.... much more black metal than Dept. of apocalyptic affairs, which is great in its own right, and has a ton of luminaries and guests from the Norwegian scene. I like all of their material, save for the first release, and that is only because I have not heard it, but I plan on rectifying that soon....

Yeah. I have been waiting for this album for YEARS.
let me put it this way: I agree, enjoy and very much love all of the albums you are currently listening to... Ohm is a favorite of mine, so is Cynic. If you have not read my review, go back in the thread and do so. Now if you can trust my opinion....I think that the $30 is the best money I have EVER spent on a solitary album.... and the fact that it is limited to 1000 copies, makes it that much more valuable. You may be kicking yourself if you do not buy one now, and wind up scavenging on ebay for ridiculous price-gouging wars.... trust me, you are in safe hands buying this at the $30. I think you will be pleasantly surprised and glad that you bought it. I cannot proslethize enough on its merits. It has blown my mind, this coming from someone who has seen/heard every aspect of tech metal, and many types of fusion, jazz and everything in between. I do not speak lightly of albums if I think they are worthwhile. this one just IS. It's profound. It so inspired me that I picked up my bass for the first time in weeks and improvised for over an hour after hearing it.... If you buy it and hate it, I will buy it off of you for the same price. or you can simply wait until the demand is high and sell it yourself for a fair profit. either way, I think it is a win-win situation for you. your move... I'm not rich by any means, but I just bought two extra copies for later.... Edited by avalanchemaster - May 23 2009 at 21:51 |

Well, I may go for it...if they have a myspace I won't be completely blind. But there are so many other good albums just out or soon to be out.

May I ask
What's the big deal about UNEXPECT? I found them to be insanely retarded and unlistenable (note: this post is not a troll) I just honestly didn't get what the big deal was. If anything, that added to my nightmares.... I have "The Aquarium Of Flesh" Album... Terrible (IMO), terrible terrible stuff.... Please Someone explain why they are special! |

You have to like chaotic music, avant-metal. It's actually pretty brilliant. But you have to be ready to devote your full attention and be up for some intensity. It's certainly not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
Mr. Bungle's first album is probably the best entry point into avant-metal. Unexpect is a little too much to start with. Diablo Swing Orchestra is another good entry point.

no offense, but it isn't for everyone. I know the band personally on a casual basis and they have eons of far-reaching influences. I think their music is very advanced and exceptionally chaotic in a very through-composed manner. It is more akin to jazz or avant garde classical than metal in many ways (the main writer/composer- Syriak, has some jazz guitar training and knows piano forward and backward).... If you have not experienced either avant jazz or atonal classical (and more obscure music), you may not fully appreciate where they are coming from. That said, they are f**king amazing! but hey, your loss, maybe when you become a little older, you may come around to them.... Edited by avalanchemaster - May 23 2009 at 22:47 |

Possibly... The main thing I couldn't get into about them was the chaotic feel I guess... I have just started listening to Maudlin of The Well... Will that help me get used to it? and possible learn to.... Love Avant metal? I have so far loved "Part The Second" by motW |

No, uneXpect is more avant-garde in the chaotic, spazdic sense than maudlin of the Well's exotic influenced and lack of genre classibility... Mr. Bungle is a good idea to get into it, as is Sleepytime Gorilla Museum.

Indeed. I started with Mr. Bungle in High School back in '94... they were my gateway band. Once you understand/appreciate/love Disco Volante, that will open the doors for many avant bands and most of the RIO (Rock In Opposition) world as well.... of which Sleepytime Gorilla Museum are part of. Don't worry if you don't get into it right away, it takes patience and some off-the-wall sensibilities (or would you call that stubbornly going against the grain of "established" musical rules and guidelines?) |
