I think even if their old as long as they have their mental faculties in tact, why not let them hang on as long as they can serve?  Granted I would have liked to see Strom Thurman go away a lot sooner than he did.  But given the number of old geezers in the senate, don't expect them to vote to change the rules anytime soon.LOL

Nor do I see them changing it after they are gone. They like having those lifetime jobs that the rest of us can't seem to get.

Come on, considering out political leanings either one of us could be easily elected senator from our respective states. LOL

Remember my state is the one that elected a dead guy over John Ashcroft.

I think it was the only sensible thing to do.  Speaking of Ashcroft, here's a Tom Tomorrow blast from the past:

The only thing scarier than him being attorney general was that song that he sung.

Two words: Term limits.

Yeah, I got it off Bartcop's web page.  I think that was the reason he posted it.  Not sure if it's a parody of all the demonization that's been going on or the ultimate source was one of the demonizers.

Yea, in 2006 I could not believe Byrd was running again, his NINTH term!
But putting limits on this would spark the whole "can politicians have as many terms as they want debate"
We limit the President, why not Senate/House etc?

And its not fair to blame the electorate. I mean Byrd is so popular he often runs un opposed, or PRACTICALLY unopposed. This was the case in 2006... So, the people can't really vote him out/look at other options if there are none.

What ever happen to the 'none of the above' option?

Only if life could be as easy as "Brewster's Millions".

Pondering if satire is any good if it doesn't offend someone. LOL

Yeah, then the next day he went on the air demanding an apology, what a wuss. LOL

Still a bit of a mystery why Hasseltwit didn't leap to his defense.

and now for something completely different:

two-and-a-half-inch denture screws
turgid tonsil of tedium
boiler sl*g bouillon
