The Shining, indeed - Stanley Kubrick's original though, not the execrable remake.

Unfortunately, it was so in 1997...

I believe it was a TV mini-series

If I remember correctly it had one of the guys from the TV show Wings playing the Jack Nicholson character.

And no doubt every scene cut into tidy snippets to accomodate commercial breaks

Sorry guys, but I've seen both versions of The Shining and read King's novel, and the 1997 version is closer to the novel, for what that's worth.

Yeah, but it doesn't have Kurbick's godly presence. I'd rather have the best director/cinematographer in the world come up with one of the best and most seminal epic horror movies ever made than watch some rehash which is closer to the original King story (which he pumps out ad nausium anyways)

King sh*ts bestsellers.  He almost says so.

"The Shining" isn't my favorite anyway.  Just pointing out the comparisons.  I like JN as an actor anyway.

Vibrationbaby (Ian) asked me to post this picture of him "rubbing shoulders with the higher echelons of the Montréal aristocracy. From left Marcel Tremblay, Ron Francis, Montréal entreprenuer, Ron Francis, VB and the Mayor of Montréal Gérald Tremblay. Much was discussed and accomplished on this auspicious occasion."

Vibrationbaby kinda looks like Liam Neeson.
