And HAmilton has been disqualified from Australia's results for apparantly misleading the stewards about his and Trulli's overtacking under the safety car, Trulli has been re-enstated in 3rd.

Wacko

And I REALLY hate missing races. How did Button win again??

^By being the fastest. Heck, he made 3 pitstops in the space of about 10 laps in Malaysia when the rain started and still held the lead from Glock and Hedifeld who made 2 and 1 respectively. Then he says the car doesnt handle too good in the wet!LOL

Cant wait for next semester! Then I'll be in an apt that gets SPEED.
Well, apparently things are still crazy. Button leads the points followed by Rubens, Vettel and Glock.
While Massa, Kimi have no points?

Yeah, this is the craziest beginning of season i remember, it is strange indeed to see Ferrari with 0 points after 3 races, but well, let's see what happens next, i have no idea of what might happen  LOL

For sure, unpredictable... strangest season since I started following F1 (in 1997).

Anyway, does anybody follow World Superbike?

Luckilly, I am back in time for the glorious racing day.
Monaco GP, Indy 500, and Coke 600.

Now, since I havnt caught anything someone update me. Whats going on?
Button leads the points with 4 wins out of 5 races.
Rubens is in 2nd
Though I am very glad to see Webber in 4th I am surprised
not to mention Hami is in 7th and Kimi is 13th?

Castroneves won again? Wow, that court case has really given him a burst of energy this year.

It sure did...

I loved the race, though the last 15 laps or so were a major disappointment, with everyone basically locked into their positions. The sooner these cars are disposed of, the better. The current design seems to limit overtaking opportunities severely.

Sad to see Meira get hurt. Though this accident might have been much worse. I see shades of Piquet's Indy crash in '94 ('93?) in that.

I'll probably not watch another NASCRAP race again in my life, with the way they destroyed Carl Long. I'm not fully convinced of Jeremy Mayfield's guilt either.

Oh, and the first 50 minutes of the Nurburgring 24 hours were pure magic. Dirk Adorf in a Ford GT40 holding off Marc Lieb in a Porsche 911 GT3, just stunning. Too bad Adorf would spin and couldn't catch up.

Presumably if Jenson Button wins the next three races he will be World Champion. This assumes that I am correct in thinking that the rules have changed and it is the driver with the most number of wins who becomes champion and points are only taken into account in the event of two or more drivers with the same number of wins. Well done if this is so but a bit of an anticlimax for the rest of the season.

Nope, they changed it right before the season began due to complaints from teams.
Thank God!
I hope they never go to that system.
Though if Button was to win the next 3 he might have the title anyway LOL

No prob. I am very glad too...I think a "most wins" championship is a terrible idea. Just terrible.
Besides, Im sure they had a solution for this, but does anyone know what they proposed if 2, or more, people had the same amount of wins?

And the Coke 600 is on the verge of becoming the 24 hours of Charlotte LOL
Personally, used to be a big NASCAR fan but just lost it over the years. I cant watch it anymore. Like I enjoy it still but just can't get "into it" and really follow it. I just watch the Daytona 500, Brickyard, Coke 600, and a race if I feel in the mood.

Wasn't it to do with last season's final race where Hamilton had to finish no less than fifth place to win the championship? Which, in somewhat controvertial final couple of corners, he just managed to do. Didn't the driver in second place in the championship have more wins than Hamilton though? I think that was one of the factors in the new rules.

I wouldn't say that I am overly keen on F1 but Monaco is the exception. I find that with modern cars there doesn't seem to be the excitement as when I was a lad.

Personally, Ive noticed a fundamental difference in American race fans and Europeans. This is just off my experience now....but ive noticed Americans support a consistency based points system, while Europeans support "more win" oriented points. Hence the old F1 system where a win was 10 followed by 6, 4, etc
I suppose thats growing up with NASCAR/F1 but yea I guess a champion having less wins then a 2nd place finisher is kind of a downer, but I dont see a big deal. If you get 6 wins but 5 DNF's....you should NOT win the title over someone with 1 win but finished in the points consistenly. But I've gotten in that debate before and like I said...I saw a simple fundamental difference in mindset.

And I cant vouch for the "good days" back in the 80's. All I know is I started watching F1 in 2003 and it was cool but pretty unexciting until the 07 season. 07 and 08 were the best 2 seasons Ive seen yet.

Yeah, Bernie was moaning about Hamilton only needing 5th in Brazil last year, completely overlooking the fact that the championship went down to the last corner of the last lap of the last race!

The plan was that the championship would be decided on wins and every other position by the points system. If two drivers had the same number of wins then the championship would be decided on points. A very messy system that I'm glad wasnt pushed through and the FIA have confirmed will never be implimented again. I think Button's 5 from 6 win rate has put them off!LOL
