Btw, you should think about making this a whole thread unto itself. I'm sure it would get a lot of support, fecicious or not.

I'm listening to a few ! T.O.O.H ! songs for the first time via Youtube because a few people have really seemed to enjoy their music here. I have to say that it sounds great. The solo in "Analyza Zahnedy" is incredible!

Anyways, anybody else care to add anything about this band?

A friend of mine said that he just fell in love with the band Disillusion. In my effort to be somewhat open-minded, I checked them out and listened to the one song they have on PA, "Alone I Stand In Fires." I was absolutely blown away by the first 3 or so minutes until it became insanely extreme as the genre suggests. I'm going to borrow the CD from my friend when I see him next and give them a chance. If anything can get me into this genre, Disillusion will be it.

You might want to give Canvas Solaris a try, very technical but they always work hard to create strong melodies, which is the cornerstone of their music.

Enjoy Back to Times of Splendor, I certainly do!
Spending more than I should on Prog since 2005

I've been addicted to Deviated Presence- Eerie Sphere lately:

with complex duelling guitar parts, long-form songs with multiple themes... and oddly enough vocal harmonies a la Annon Vin, exceptional leads and staccato rhythms that bite with just the right measure of both aggression and melody....and AUDIBLE bass parts!!!!! this is obviously an obscure treasure and well worth seeking out for the melo-prog-death heads out there..... simply amazing!!!!  In two words:

f**kING KILLER!!!!!

But see, I wasn't even serious with that comment. I have barely listened to that record yet, so I really don't know whether I like it or not. Tongue

I look for quality in metal, don't care if it's progressive or not to be honest. Before I got into prog metal, I was a fan of straight thrash metal, and I'd never leave my roots behind. I'm a big fan of the straight tech death sound when I'm in the mood, just straight to the point and no compromises when it's done right.

Are Exivious listed on this site?  They should be, if they aren't.  Their s/t limited ed. (1000) debut (featuring members of Cynic and Textures) will be the BEST instrumental tech metal release of the year.  Mark my words!
