I joined the other day- I've been meaning to post in here, but I keep up with another message board, and was busy posting there as well.

I've been a prog listener for a while now, and listen to bands all across the spectrum covered by this site. I suppose I'm most into math rock, but I'm willing to give most anything prog a listen, as long as it is truly progressive in some way and doesn't succumb to the stereotypes that the haters say all prog does.

So, er, that's me, I guess.

Welcome, man! Thumbs Up

Honestly, I think the only bands in Prog that succumb to cliches and formulas are alot of the Prog Metal guys.  All other artists here are usually pretty diverse, even within their own sub-genre.

Keep posting, man. I think you'll find in no time at all that this is a great place to spend time.

I said ALOT, not "all" of the Prog Metal guys, and I was talking about BANDS anyway, not Genre Team members. Wink

C'mon, I love Prog Metal, but will you admit that many Prog Metal artists merely mimmick Dream Theater?

could be interchanged with:

Genesis
Rush
ELP
King Crimson
Porcupine Tree
Yes
Pink Floyd
...

...ect... LOL

Every subgenre has its founders and its copy cats.

Anyways, sorry to hijack your thread. Welcome to the site! Big smile
