You've got a place to stay until the rest of my family finds out you're here. Not a Richmondite, I'm afraid, I hail from South Delta. Ladner, to be exact, farm and fishing country. I can walk the streets at midnight safely for the sole reason that there's literally nobody else out there.
And I need Finland pictures from Jesse so that when I go visit him I'll actually come out to Oulu instead of sitting in Helsinki or Rovaniemi like a tourist.
Oh, right, this is a picture thread. Well, have another sunset, you lot. This one's from - where else? - Maui. Took it just this Christmas holiday. What a shame the rest of the place isn't half as great as the sunsets.

Wonderful pictures people. I am particularly interested in the ones of the countries that aren't America. I guess I've gained an obsession over the past few months of the world beyond my sheltered life where I was raised. Even though you can see similar scenes in this country, just knowing it's from a place further away adds to the mystery.
In any event, keep them coming, I'll probably be watching this thread a lot, there are a lot of cool pictures here.

In the southern part of Minas Gerais, a Brasilian state, we found these landscapes trimmed by an empty paved road.

Maui sunset on honeymoon, 2002.
And some original artwork: I did the cloud painting as a teen, inspired by sunrises I had seen on the morning bus rides into school, and of course the artwork of Roger Dean. . The second one is an ink on board I made from a Polaroid photograph that was photocopied onto a transparency, projected overhead on the board, traced off, and finished off by hand with ink and some airbrushed ink. What could be better than pictures of pictures that aren't really pictures? I now return you to your normal pictures at an exhibition thread. But wait, before I do, which version is your favorite? The original Mussorgsky piano? The orchestrated? ELPs first version? ELP's live version? All your answers must be phrased in the form of a photograph. ^ ELPs first version was a live version. The only studio version (with the London SO) was on the box set Return of the Mantocore.

I stand corrected and should know better as I have the Manticore box set version and the original version which was indeed live. The live version I was referring to was the 1979 Emerson, Lake and Palmer In Concert condensed version with an orchestra. Edited by Slartibartfast - April 12 2009 at 03:40 |

Don't worry about the fact you don't use a DSLR - the equipment you use only captures what you see as a photograph - from these two in particular, it's obvious you have the eye Edited by Jim Garten - April 13 2009 at 06:19 |

Another simple one of mine I like a lot:
Always reminds me slightly of Tangerine Dream's 'Ricochet' album cover |
