Nice camera - & don't worry about its perception as an "entry level" camera; it's the eye behind the camera that matters, not the whistles & bells (most of which will never be used) inside
Another so-called 'entry-level' job... Nikon D50 - great camera to use and you can use it fully manual if you want to; great thing about Nikons though is every lens made by them since 1948 will fit this camera (although you may not be able to use some camera functions ), so the 70/300mm lens I had for my 35mm Nikon, works perfectly with all functions on this one & best of all, 70/300 on 35mm becomes 112/480 on digital |

Awesome! One of the things I love about the canon is the full manual features. I was brought up that way on video, so it's the way I stay on photography, although I have been known to use the auto focus when I've got pictures on the move. My girlfriend has her dad's old lenses, but they're something called Ricoh which don't fit the new cameras.
I totally agree about the eye behind the camera, unfortunately most photographers are bloodthirsty in the field and have no respect for you unless your set up is bigger than theirs - such is the unfortunate side of the art, I suppose. Still! It's what you can do with it, the rest is simply the tool you chose to use. |

My camera isn't very good, nor am I a good photographer, but this turned out rather nice, methinks.

wow , some great pics guys!
As Jim knows I've been thinking about getting a grown up camera for ages, and I finally plumped for a Nikon D60 just around Chrimbo time. (thanks Santa!) Utterly befuddled by all the knobs and buttons and eager to wean myself off the "auto" function I've just started a photography course which is great fun! My pics are getting better already, despite having a looooong way to go with them. Here are a couple fo pics I did for last weeks assignment. (go gentle on me!) These were all taken at the Hartland Point Hill CLimb last Sunday, first HC of the season. R x |
