the name of Ne Obliviscaris will echoes in my ears for a long time from now.. this band is unbelivable ..  when prog meets black meets death meets some great acoustic parts violin through all the way .. agressive.. subtle.. clean / screams vocals.. this demo is massive.. i can't wait to hear their full lenghth ..

Aeons Past cover (Click to see larger picture)

A fast paced tech death metal album. Very recommendable stuff and of high quality I might add.

Sounds interesting,I'll definitely check it out.

Got ahold of a copy quick and gave it a spin.Good stuff, reminds me of Necrophagist.

As I stated in my review of that demo http://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=187218 the music is really promising but those clean vocals really puts me off. They will do great things in the future I´m sure though( with a new clean vocalist).

Yeah Necrophagist also came to mind while I listened to it ( without the sweeping solos though) but Psycroptic was actually what I was thinking about the most ( their two first albums). I´m glad you liked it.

I'm sure this has been gone over a billion times, but why isn't Necrophagist in the archives?

Because Necrophagist is a technical death metal band.
We can argue around and round about it, but Necrophagist in PA, not gonna happen bro.
Nothing against the band, because I love them, but the compositional development isn't there for prog death metal, the structures are too straight forward and if I must be honest, it makes AJFA look like prog metal.
Obviously the standard of musicianship in Necrophagist is way way higher, given that Necrophagist has a drummer who can actually stay in time through a whole performance, and Muhammed Suiçmez can actually play guitar unlike that disgusting slop fest that is Kirk Hammett's (sorry Kirk, but you haven't been a good guitarist since the 80S......TRY PRACTICING FOR ONCE) playing.
Technical musicianship is irrelevant as to whether bands are added to PA.
Progressive Tech Metal bands are added to that genre of PA, because they are prog metal bands, not because they are tech bands.
They are added to Prog Tech Metal only because it's the genre of music they play, not because technicality=progressive metal.

Meh.

I think if The Faceless are in, then so should Necrophagist.

The X artist is here, why not Y is not gonna work, sorry.
You should know that by now, X is here and Y should be is ALWAYS out of the question.
I fail to see the comparison. One is clearly a progressive metal band, one clearly isn't. That's why one was added and the other rejection.

I don't wanna sound like a dick or anything dude, but if you want to keep arguing this round and round, I probably wont bother to respond to posts pertaining to Necrophagist not being here.
I'm just getting sick of people that seem to question the PMT all the time and I'm not gonna bother arguing with something like this.
We are promoted to this position because we know our sh*t, pure and simple.
The votes are in, and Necrophagist have been rejected with not 3, but 4 votes against them in fact.
If someone does not like the decisions made by the PMT if we add a band they don't feel should be here, or reject a band they feel should be here, tough luck mate.

100% Hell Oh Yeah.

No seriously Necrodeath is nothing like Necrophagist IMO but after our conversation about Necrophagist last year Harry I tend to agree with you, even though I was a strong believer in their place on PA back then. I´d say there are other rejections in the genre I wonder more about. But I´m not in the mood to discuss that today. But you know I´ll pick up the subject on a later occasion right?WinkLOL.

I don´t see nothing wrong in discussing rejected bands as long as you have a new angle or maybe a new album ( remember the rule is one progressive album and you´re in) from the band to present to the team. The X and Y argument isn´t a valid new angle though and I understand your frustration about that Harry. People who are not frequently suggesting artists might not realise that though. I know I had to learn the hard way when I started visiting PA. It´s simply the easiest argument when you are inexperienced in the process.

I´m feeling a bit nostalgic. Anyone remember this one?

Tortured Existence cover (Click to see larger picture)

It isn´t the slightest bit progressive but lovers of brutal thrash metal ( borderline death/ thrash) should be able to find great pleasure here. I just love this album and have played it to death since the day I purchased it. One of my very first CD purchases after I stopped buying new LPs ( I still buy them second hand). Love the riot gang background vocals which actually hints at hardcore IMO.

1) In 1999 I see Necrodeath is a concert from Hell in Padua... I have first 2 Necrodeath album... These albums are extreme... And also little Prog... But Necrodeath is, basically, a Black Metal band. So... Not for PA!!! P.s.: I'm not an expert of Necrophagist... But Necrophagist is a good band... Certainly not EPM!!!

2) The X and Y argument... I'm all rught with you. But in certain cases X and Y is a valid case for the insertion of a band in PA. Even if it is so rare that it is right to apply it... Only that you should list each time, where X and Y have the same(or similar) style and this does never happen and then everything is reduced to a sterile thing.

Well, if Necrophagist releases on album of prog death, they're according to the rules.
I'll email Muhammed Suiçmez to consider making prog death songsLOL
Seriously though, apparently for the next album the band is going to be using 7 strings, I can't wait to see how that changes their song writing approach.
I think it will just more insanely technical, hehe.
And even if it's not prog, who cares bro?
We'll start a thread in general discussions when the album comes out and every post will just be about how freaking great the album isLOL

Well, I personally haven't heard much of a difference between The Faceless and Necrophagist. But, I'm more on the side that neither are progressive.

In response to that Gojira topic, I saw them a few weeks ago.  They put on an amazing show, and the crowd were nuts.

Even when I was standing at the bar I was getting knocked around

Have you only listened to Planetary Duality? If so, check out Akeldama. It's: A) A better album and B) Pretty progressive.

On that note, I want everyone here to check out SikTh. They're just amazing, I haven't been able to stop listening to them.
