The Shed

 

 

 MY lawn still has (no exaggeration) some 4-5 feet of snow on it. (Should melt by, oh... mid July or so...) We had +15C on Monday, and lost about a foot of snow, but the temperature has dipped again now to just below zero, and we had a couple of more inches of damned snow last night.

 

So no biking yet (roads can be bare, but with freezing nights, daily melt from the shoulders turns to ice -- not so good on corners, on two wheels!), though hopefully by month's end, or early April. As for trail riding, the woods will have snow in them well into May, so that is out for some time. (Streams become raging rivers, & mud everywhere.) Every year here it's the same -- a taste of spring, we all think winter's over, then we get walloped by a late-March blizzard, and get back all of the white stuff we'd lost.

 

On the plus side, though, lake levels should be high, and the forest fires likely won't start too early.

 

Plus, we have all the water you Euros and Yanks will be buying in the future -- was that one liter, or two?

 

In any case, cold nights are good for a while -- we don't want all of the snow to melt at once. It represents a LOT of water, and flooding could easily become a possibility (not right here, but in nearby areas, especially near rivers, of course).
