I think Gojira´s drummer is superb. One of the main attractions ( there are many other excellent elements) in their music is his drumming IMO.

their drumming is distinctive feature of gojira, just take Terra Incognita , it has some remarkable usage of drums all the way through

And I think Schuldiner is a superb vocalist. I can still understand if other people dislike his style.

Similarly, I can agree that Gojira has a good drummer. Doesn't mean he doesn't annoy me to the core and makes me stop the album from playing most of the time. It doesn't destroy the album for me, but it seriously hinders me to enjoy it as much as I could.

@ HughesJB4, try  '' Below The Lights'' ; '' Isa''  '' Ruun'' from Enslaved you may like it.
see some fans of Nevermore here, so count on me, I love them too, and i enjoyed Protest the Hero'  Fortress very much. i see Dødheimsgaard are mentioned above, i tried Supervillain Outcast but doesn't apeal to me , it is demanding listen, maybe  i didn't tried hard enough to get into that music, i have intention to try another album from them, they are worth listening.

@ MovingPictures07 , i would recomend to you Kathaarsys, great Progressive Black , i simply love them, reminds me of Opeth , they have very lenghty songs, screams, aggression, acoustic parts like opeth, sound great. Dark Suns - this band is HUGE, superb atmosphere , also opeth like passages, love it. Fen , adorable ,progressive black/post rock/ beautful atmosphere, haunting  Krallice, Negura Bunget, October Falls, Disillusion, Quo Vadis - superb Prog Death , WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM

You´re welcome to read my reviews of the two Gorod albums to get an idea of what they sound like:

Terminal Function ( think Meshuggah meets Cynic. Then you have the general idea)

i will check Gorod, you've mentioned Cryptopsy, Decapitated, Necrophagist, Martyr and Death  i like those bands, and for Terminal Function mentioning  Meshuggah and cynic is enough for me to dig into it

With Dark Suns, who are superb, I would say that only the first album Swanlike is Opeth like, Existence and Grave Human Genuine are more of uniqe cross between Opeth (their atmospheres) and Pain of Salvation (their technique and arangments, but also the emotional delivery) with GHG being the much more accomplished one of the two, parts of Existence just didnt work IMO.

OK I officially like Gojira's The Way of All Flesh. Not a whole lot, but I do like it, and I'm sure it will continue to grow. Now I need to tackle From Mars to Sirius.

The way of all flesh was definitely one of the best albums of 2008.

My vote still goes to Opeth's Watershed for the best album.

^I have to say, I didn't really like the Ayreon album much at all.
Traced In AIr, Atomized Dream, obZen, Watershed and Eternal Kingdom were all fantastic ones though.

if you haven't already.

BtBaM clicks with everyone, period.
Seriously, Colors is easily one of the most brilliant albums of the 00s (well, IMO at leastTongue).
Also, damn, at first Kezia was kinda 4 star stuff, but it got gradually more addictive as time rolled on, f**king amazing album, as is Fortress.

This should read: "Seriously, Colors is easily on of the most brilliant works of AD."

^That's a fair enough statement though.
It's hard to go a week without listening to it, it's just so awesome.

I'm thinking about seeing Protest the Hero but I'm really not a big fan so I'm not sure.

Just spin the Enslaved Live in Bergen DVD, was awesome! And they thank Hawkwind in the liner notes!

I've decided to see them.  The line-up is much better this time around they are playing with The Number Twelve Looks Like You, Misery Signals and Fall From Grace...  Can't remember the line-up from the last time they came around but one band was Saves the Day, so you get the idea..

This will be my final attempt to like Protest the Hero LOLTongue  If they can't convince me live, then I give up.  The Number 12 Looks Like You is really what sold the show!

So I'm listening to Alaska for the first time right now and my penis has not left its full upright position since I turned I started listening.

This may be better than Colors, no?
