I think it's probably most profitable for us to keep our ears (and our heads) ready for anything. Prog is just a word to describe one of the styles I happen to like.

I may go off progressive rock, but I don't think I'll ever go off progressive music. There always will be so much progressive music to discover and grow into that I think it will be a life-long pursuit and passion.

I haven't been bothering to listen to much progressive rock lately, and what I do listen to is RIO, but I have been listening to progressive music, it's just jazz because I hate rock at the moment.
I tried to give up music for Lent, but I caved on Ash Wednesday. :/ In my defense, I had the Bee Gees stuck in my head. I was only a few moments away from suicide, which would have been worse!

I have had and currently have the same problem. My current lack of love for prog started probably a couple months ago. Then a friend of mine bet me to give up music for the 40 days of Lent so I decided I'd do that. I'm starting to miss it a bit after only a week. In due time the love of prog will reemerge.

If I eat papaya everyday it'll be quite sure that I'll get tired of it sooner or later...  
I try to keep a broad spectrum of musical styles, being Prog really important but not predominant, maybe 30%, being the rest divided among Brazilian music (all possible/audible genres), some erudite stuff, seminal & classic rock, pop & romantic, French chanson, tango, fado, and so on.

It will. It just amazes me how up until a week or so ago I couldn't get enough of it. Now....eh.
Actually, if anyone whose spent time in the What Are You Listening To Now thread, a lot of my entries have been non-prog. Has been for a couple of weeks.
I do have the Pat Metheny Group in the car's player. I suppose that could qualify as progressive, even though I still see it as simply jazz and only jazz.

I'm sure you just need a break, however long it needs to be doesn't matter. However, sometimes it may just be that you need something new. There is ONE album I must recommend for you when you're feeling up to it again: Still the Waters. I've taken breaks from MUSIC that have lasted years (in most cases because of personal circumstances), but I've always come back to it, my interest stronger than before. I'm sure it will happen to you too !

Actually, I've been talking back and forth with a buddy of mine and we're both children of the 80's. Been listening to a lot of stuff that I grew up with.
I'll be back from my hiatus. I'm sure I'll miss Genesis, Yes, and Pendragon here soon.

Kidding aside, Pat is right. Breaks are common among collabs, everyone needs a break now and again. It will return to you eventually I'm sure. Don't force it.

Haven't been listening to Marillion, either. Then again, I don't really consider them progressive anymore. I've always described them as modern rock with progressive characteristics. Even then, however, I'm taking a break from Marillion. I think I'm a victim of over saturating myself. I'd better get back in the mood because their convention in Montreal is a month away. E

I think we've all been there Eric. Breaks are a good thing, hopefully one day your zeal for prog comes back strong and you can rediscover how much you love those treasured albums all over again.

That was one best things about being here was the discovery of new bands. I'd say over 65% of my prog section are bands that I discovered through ProgArchives. I just have zero interest in them right now, though. I've been listening to stuff like Chicago, Bruce Hornsby, U2 and Eagles lately.
I think eventually I'll get sucked back in; however, for right now I think I'm needing a break. That's what it feels like at least.
