 Topic: Your animal and progressive rock.

So I'm sitting here yet again by my computer and my cat Toby is right by my side again- and we're listening to Comus. I had a thought. Perhaps my cat really likes progressive rock! My cat listens to more prog than most cats, So is my cat smarter? More rational? If Toby could talk- what would she request? Is your cat or dog a progger?

The cat that is around all the prog is more bitchy (towards the other one)/loving (towards me) than my other cat- but my other cat is paranoid- I'm sure what to make of that

I have an indifferent kitty. She loves the cat heater though.

My parakeet seems pretty responsive to my music when I play it loud. Then again, he's pretty responsive when little kids take out legos and crash them around in the playroom.

Needless to say my dog is afraid of my guitar...specially when you play it and any kind of music even prog rock.

One thing is for sure, my cat listens to more prog than my wife- and more accepting as well.

My cat actually likes my acoustic guitar, especially when I make cat like sounds with it.

I had two cats, Tunces and Hazel.
Tunces (like the driving cat) didn't care much for music, but tried to drink my beer all the time.
Hazel was a literal fraidy-cat. She hid most of the time.
I had to give both of them up.

Not sure about Prog but a long time ago I used to have cat named Gandalf. He was a siamese mix and man that cat could get mean! So when he used to get a little too fired up my roommate and I would take him into the music room and remove anything the cat might get distracted by and then proceed to pound on my piano making the worst god awful racket you could hear. We would do this for about 3 minutes. The cats ears would be all the way pulled back with its eyes wide open and just would stand frozen. We then would shut the door and leave the cat in a time out for about 10 minutes. When we let him out he was docile as a lamb. 
The technical name of this procedure was called "chops".

Too many cat people here  Dogs are the way forward. IT is a well known fact that all terriers enjoy metal. My dog (a Cairn, looks a bit like an Ewok) especially loves Meshuggah, mainly because Jens Kidman pretty much barks into the mic. He also enjoys a good bit of Pat Metheny as much as the next dog, he really likes Between The Buried & Me and VDGG, but runs and hides from RIO. He once told me that Heresie gives him migrain. All in all, my dog LOVES prog.

My dog Wellington listens to whatever I listen to, but I think he greatly prefers soft classical or acoustic guitar over blasting ACDC. 
(Though he used to go wild for the howling wolf at the beginning of Deep Purple's "Hush," until he figured out the wolf wasn't really talking to him. )
I don't think he gets prog or jazz at all  -- he likes the sound it makes when it stops.... |
