David Tennnant has announced the next series will be his last, so who should fill his shoes next?  David, though at first i thought his characterisation resembled Jim Dale in "Carry On Up The Doctor",  has become one of the best Doctors.

 Question

heres my suggestion - mysterious, moody, commanding....

"...me...? The Doktor...?"

It's a hell of an act to try to follow; James Nesbitt is being touted as a possibility (as was Boris Johnson on the BBC this morning ).

My personal nominations:

Ideal for some of the more surreal situations.

Certainly a different take on the role...

But my personal number 1 wish for the new Dr Who:

Perfect - he's got the 'look', the Englishness, the surrealism

Bill Bailey for Dr Who!!

Tennant is definitely going to be a hard act to follow.  One of my favorite doctors, up there with the likes of Tom Baker and Pertwee.  I don't know who they should get as doctor number 11 though.  It's too bad he has decided to leave.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Tom Baker was the only real Doctor in my book.

That being said, if you can woo Bill Nye the science guy to the isle, he would be perfect.

I don't want Eddie Izzard to do it if it interferes with The Riches (no reason it would, and I think that's wrapping up -- haven't checked -- the only show that I was even more careful not to miss than Doctor Who).

I'd like Steve Coogan to play the Doctor (Doctor Who, the show's title, is for "I'm the Doctor."  "Doctor who?").

And Pertwee was my favourite Doctor, followed by Tom Baker (both great).

Bill Bailey is an excellent choice.

I would also like to suggest, Martin Clunes or Bill Nighy.

I doubt they'd be mean when dishing out the Jelly Babies

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

From the list on the BBC, I'd go for James McAvoy, maybe Alan Davies as a long shot?

Not a bad choice.  Another good one would be David Troughton.
