A great fruit salad can make for an excellent morning snack!! Kiwi fruit, mangoes, the works.. Those cherries sound good too.

well other than having white flesh, the flavor is slightly milder and sweeter

.what I really love are the golden cherries from the Pacific Northwest Tongue

What's a white nectarine compared to a normal one?

Like Blackie, I hardly (if ever) eat red meat at all these days - despite my protestations on the huge benefits of a lardy fry-up, about the only time I have these is on canal boat trips, ie once a year on average - fantastic food, but moderation is the key...

Generally I only eat breakfast at all on weekends, when it's usually home made bread toast, butter (not margerine ) & at the moment a preserve I got somewhat addicted to in Newfoundland, Partridgeberry Jam + of course coffee and a cigarette to finish .

Someone asked earlier the attraction of that cigarette in the morning - unless you actually smoke, it's very difficult to explain; it would be easy to say "it's fantastic - the best one of the day", but the bottom line is even a moderate smoker like me is addicted to nicotine: if you've been asleep for 8 hours, you wake with your body craving nicotine, so when you take that first puff, your body rewards you for supplying the nicotine it craves with a nice 'hit' of endorphines to make you feel good... and thus the cycle continues.

Now if you'll excuse me, I just got my 3rd coffee of the day & it's time for my 2nd ciggie...

oh hell yeah, I've done that, delicious..  don't do it often, but yeah
can't do it often - the few times I've done I actually felt years slip off my life LOL

You know, years ago, the fried breakfast was the staple diet of British manual workers, and cases of heart disease and obesity were much lower than they are today. I guess their work and their lifestyles generally were just a lot more physical. That said, there were far more smokers back then, and I would put money on there being higher rates of stomach and bowel disease too.

These days I limit my red meat intake to just twice a week, and one of those portions is a generaous helping of bacon; usually grilled.

It's just a shame that nature has made anything that tastes really good, bad for you...

I had some 'real' muesli recently, whilst working in Switzerland. It was the most depressing breakfast experience I have ever had.

I like the sort of sweet muesli we get in the UK (Alpen springs to mind) but honestly, this genuine Swiss stuff, I would feel guilty using it to line a gerbils cage..

we used to have a really good brand of muesli that I don't see anymore, it was sweet and full of ground nuts and some dried fruits, had a really good flavor and texture  ..but other muesli I've had does remind me of what one might feed their rodent

forget all that sawdust - just fry up a pound of bacon, then cook the eggs in the grease.

Tasty death!  Embarrassed

^^ How do you make your hollandaise?I used to really enjoy Honey Nut Cheerios; but, since this high blood sugar thing came about I've had to revamp my breakfast: high protein and low carb. This morning, for example, I'll have poached eggs with a little roasted tomatiillo salsa over them, turkey bacon, toasted Ezekiel bread (low carb and made from sprouted grain), 8 oz. of milk and 8 oz. of Tropicana light and healthy OJ.Breakfast has always been my favorite meal of the day.E

Damn this actually sounds pretty good.

I HAVE to eat breakfast. My best friend can't stand breakfast, but I can't get started without it.

Yup.

Guess you're probably correct. It just seems to me like it would negate the flavors of the breakfast.

But like I said, I don't smoke, so, honestly, it could be the most refreshing thing in world, and I'd have no clue.

Neither do I, but I've used other tobacco products, and they're never better than after meals and/or together with coffee.
