here I ams
they opened with Hearts Alive which already set the set to be awesome for me btw I don't currently agree with my review of Leviathan its more a 4 but anyway a vague semblance of the setlist: Hearts Alive The Wolf Is Loose Crystal Skull Capillarian Crest Bladecatcher (this was hilarious for the vocals) Circle of Cysquatch Colony of Birchmen Siberian Divide Megalodon Aqua Dementia Iron Tusk March of the Fire Ants and during Crystal Skull there was many a YEAAAAH moment |

Alarum are great. I actually prefer the 2002 promo they did prior to Eventuality... All of the tracks on there are on Eventuality, but they were re-recorded for Eventuality, and i think they sound so much better on the demo. But that's probably because i was used to the songs the way they were on the demo, and they've got a different vibe on the album.

Anyone here has heard about Moonsorrow, is one of my favourite bands on the genre and think they are an insane band, but I don't see too much love from them in the archives (even though they are very proggy even for a Tech/extreme prog band)

This is a local Tampa band that's on the bill with the IntrOnaut, Behold...The Arctopus, and Mouth of the Architect show on Friday... Brief bio from the link above:
Gigan was formed in early 2006 by left-handed lead guitarist Eric Hersemann. Having moved on from Diabolic(Century Media Records) and no longer jamming with Hate Eternal(Metal Blade Records), Eric made the decision to create a whole new musical entity...Growing tired of standard extreme metal cliches, he constructed a vehicle with which to properly express his and his bandmates imaginations: GIGAN. GIGAN currently consists of Eric Hersemann(lead guitar/electric bass/abstract sounds/lyrics/concepts) Randy Piro(All vocals/rhythm guitars/abstract sounds/concepts) and Danny Ryan(Drums/percussion/otherworldly hyperactivity). The Gigan "musical experience" consists not only of agressive-intelligent speed, cosmic soundscapes and abstract technicality, but also a visual feast as well. Magick influenced psychedelia is undoubtably a lyrical focus in addition to songs inspired by misanthropy and the supernatural. GIGAN is a band that will always be dedicated to imagination and creative expression...The evolution of Gigan will certainly be a legend in the making.....and now that a multi-album, worldwide deal has been signed with Napalm Records, anything is possible...

Just went to Mayhem a few days ago. Machine Head, The Red Chord, Slipknot, and Five Finger Death Punch were great. We missed Mastadon for a good standing spot at Machine Head (Right up against the Rail)
MH stole the show, should've headlined. The Red Chord and Slipknot were great too. Also, even though I wasn't familiar with FFDP they were good straight up metal.

Anyone is familiar with the Canadian band Augury?
They seem to be a nice melodic prog death metal band, not too well known even here. Their second album is under way according to their website. |

Show was excellent. Mouth of the Architect was incredible live... Intronaut was also excellent, really enjoyed the percussion, they seemed to cut it a bit short since it was very late though. Paul from Behold...The Arctopus was ill from food poisoning in Orlando so they didn't make it here. Was disappointed with that especially since I thought about going to Orlando on Thursday.

The singer from FFDP was originally with a band called Motograter. Was a really interesting nu-metal band. They had engine parts on stage and would play it. Kind of their own creation of an instrument. Worth checking out if you haven't heard it. Maybe look for the track "Suffocate" The guitarist was from WASP (talk about nostalgia)
It's a real shame you missed out on Mastodon. They were excellent, and probably the best band there.
