would bands like BEHOLD THE ARCTOPUS and CO-CONSPIRATOR count as experimental metal?

I have their 3 albums listed in PA, all music that I love; heavy, intricate, complex, sometimes weird.
Khaooohs & Kon-Fus-ion especially, while not too long an album, has great tunes and the sax parts are great addition to the atmosphere.

never liked IN THE WOODS...just not my stuff. Has anyone heard of PAN THY MONIUM? Dan Swano's brutal experimental stuff. I've found their last album in the pile of the second-hand/cheap CDs in local store only for 1 $!

I have, I was looking for a second opinion. It does sound interesting but I cant really get my head around the concept of a band that sounds like a mix of Tool, PT, TMV, Oceansize, Dredge and Coheed and Cambria (especially since I dont know the last two). |

I'm having a bit of a problem regarding the vocals, for it sounded whinny. I'll give it a few spins more, see if the album grows on me. |

You got that right. Best band I've ever heard so far this year and I think it's gonna stay that way for a long time. |

I'll give this music a good cheer, experimental anything goes down well in my books, how else is music gonna move forward?

I know what you mean, even the bonus track 29 is excellent (not often that we get quality bonus tracks, they're normally demo's or songs that deserved to be cut from the album). Thanks for mentioning Virgin Black, Requiem-Mezzo Forte is a great album. |

Glad to hear you like the new Dark Suns album Andy,it is already one of my Album of the Year candidates.
There are a couple other bands in this genre that need some attention:
Day Without Dawn
Kekal (HIGHLY recommended, especially their last two albums)
Yakuza
Virgin Black
The Chronicles of Israfel
