^^"Yo sup everybody this is Herman Re!", god damn i love that video Dragonforce was suggested for inclusion on PA? Entertaining, virtuosic, but definitely not prog. I see the band as no more complex than Megadeth really.

I've listened to some Dragonforce. I gotta admit, it's cheesy.

Oh and not to mention Sam Totman was fairly sloppy when i saw him live. I think he needs to back off the booze a little, as well as wear his guitar a little higher (you can see his pinky flopping around unnecessarily because his guitar is too low).

"Also order in the next 5 minutes and we will send this free Herman Li Tab Book" , the picture of Petrucci and the sound of his response "Hooray!" is just classic!
Thanks for the link martinprog77

Look don't worry Avantegarde head, I'm sure one day you will get a hold of Dragonforce's Greatest Hits, plus Herman Li tab book so you can learn the same A major 7 Sweep picked arpeggio shape over and over again

Does the band actually ever use Amaj7 arpeggios?! That would be pretty cool, actually.

I'm not sure, i haven't listened to much Dragonforce on a regular basis for a while to say it's used in any of their songs, although there is this video http://youtube.com/watch?v=40avBu25TYA of Herman doing an A major 7 Sweep picked pattern. The first two time he does it fast, he does it really sloppy, the 4 times, well still sloppy, but reasonable enough you would get away with it in a live situation. |

The last part of that looks sped-up to me. Anyway, a lot of times with the Herman and Sam videos it doesn't really sound like they know what they're talking about...

I doubt it's sped up, otherwise he would have done it slow cleanly first and sped it up. It's still rather sloppy, even the best sweeps in the video are played with the D G and B strings being somewhat indistinct. Given that many people can sweep even faster than that as well as more cleanly (Rusty Cooley and Jeff Loomis spring to mind), it's just a case of Herman "Sloppy" Li. |

Yeah I just listened to some dragonforce after being bugged by one of my friends for months. Alright I guess, but I'm not sure if I could look myself in the eye if these guys made it into my regular rotation. Reminds me of my old nerd days when I listened to video game and anime music.

Dragonforce was the band my music theory band made fun of for a couple of weeks.
The band is really not my style of music in nyway, but I like how they embrace the stereotype of being rediculusly fast, cheesy, power metal. Thats hard to do.

This is basically what every Dragon Force song is:
''Go, go, Power Rangers!"

He needs to stop boozing! I met him once, he wasn't with it, and it was only the morning. My friend met him again a few weeks ago and he couldn't string a sentence together - he slurred ever single word. It was inaudible. He's even drinking in one of their music videos! No wonder he can't play guitar live |
