Didn't know whether to report about such cases or not.
I remember about Octopus (Chi) for the moment (there should be more, I just don't remember all of them). Is it possible to change it to CHI ? (the text of the bio contains my "beloved" diacritics"... it was a reason why I kept it as it was)
Thanks in advance!

I don't want to be picky because I think this system is great, but aren't AMON DÜÜL (GBR) better known just about everywhere else as AMON DÜÜL UK?

Ops... maybe you have reason Dean, but if we write AMON DUUL UK then the (GBR) won't be needed and the original AMON DUUL could be writen without (GER). Frankly, I discovered the British AMON DUUL only after discovering PA. Hence, I see no problem in having an exception here.

I think that since Amon Düül are all inter-related the exception is justified.

Thanks for paying attention, Coops! There is a long post of mine at the first page of this thread where all the (found) cases are mentioned (including those you've just posted). The changes made are inspected and the changed cases are marked in that post. The process is in progress... Eugene

As for ANON DUULs -- the system were quite neat... You say the band was known everywhere as AMON DUUL UK? Then, maybe, this kind of a compromiss is possible: AMON DUUL (GBR) (aka AMON DUUL UK) AMON DUUL (GER)
AMON DUUL II

^ I would suggest asking for advice from the Krautrock team (or BaldFriede) on the Amon Düüls ... IMO they are a special case because of their inter-linked history. |

if my words sounded somewhat unpleasant -- that wasn't intended by any means.
All the posts of missed cases are welcome. Also, bands are being added to PA from time to time, and there is always a chance of creating some new pairs of bands with the same name...

You're right - I suggest to make it in this way: Amon Düül (UK) the (UK) expression is just a part of the name used for differentiating the bands. So on the other side there is even no need for Amon Düül (GER) Another tricky thing is the name of Amon Düül 2 - dominantly used as Amon Düül II but the website shows it in another way A little appendix about the curious name: it's a combination of Amon, the Egyptian sun-god and Düül as the name of a turkish fantasy figure Edited by Rivertree - October 12 2007 at 05:19 |
