But vertical racks with slots are annoying when you're buying new CD's often. Then you have to move alot of them one slot further.

But it looks cool having a couple of racks put together, or on top of eachother.
Might do that myself.

however, I think you're going to either need another shelf soon, or bung some stuff on ebay.... these days, I tend to choose the latter route...Disapprove

^ I'm determined to *not* buy another shelf any time soon ... I'll definitely sell a bunch of albums in the near future. Rather than endlessly increasing the number of albums I'll try to increase the quality of the collection!

@andu: The shelf is to the left of my desktop ... the vinyls and the hi-fi system are to the right. Picture will follow!Smile

^ it's really neat - it has white sliding doors which I removed in order to take the picture. It has room for 1000 CDs ... more than you'd think when looking at it.

When building a big music collection I think there are two important things, catalog it and get good storage units.  This is over 3,000 CD titles.  The last doohickey is a digital music player and a portable stereo speaker.   Still testing out the speaker.  The digital music player leaves something to be desired with regard to the software, but I love the capacity and the screen which displays album cover art.

By the way, I hate those CD racks with the balls.  They are kind of disfunctional.

Here's some of my old cassette collection.  Most were LPs I taped to keep from scratching up the records.  There's some live stuff I can't recover since I no longer have a functional dbx tape deck.

The Poly 61 cassette is actually a patch transfer tape for my first synthesizer.
