Symphony X and Psychotic Waltz are really cheesy.
And IQ sounds very pretentious.

Rapeman.
Steve Albini might know how to arrange mics, but this band name is awful. Oh sure, its based on some comic book from Japan, but that doesn't make the name any less disgusting.

I was surfing the net and found a huge data base of really bad band names, here's the link.
Seriously folks, if this thread stays open long enough all the names in PA will be in it. And I see a lot of posts cherry picking sub-genres they don't like.
So what constitutes a good band name? I'll go ahead and agree that names that contain vulgarity are probably a good indication of lack of substance.

What about the ZODIAC MINDWARP? Anyway 1980s pop and rock are full of bad names:
KAJAGOOGOO
JOHNNY HATES JAZZ
FINE YOUNG CANNIBALS
PREFAB SPROUT (even if their music is really fine)
PENDRAGON
SCRITTIPOLITTI
MILLI VANILLI (and they couldn't even sing!!!)
TRAVELLING WILBURIES
ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN
JESUS AND MARY CHAIN (I used to think they had something to do with the Italian metalhead Paul Chain...)
FLOCK OF SEAGULLS
BOYS MEET GIRLS
EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRLS
Many Heavy Metal names really suck
DISMEMBERED
ENTOMBED
CARCASS
NECHROPHAGY
NECHRODEATH
ROCK GODDESS
PINK CREAM 69
and some contemporary ones
YEAH YEAH YEAHS
CLAP YOUR HANDS AND SAY YEAH
RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS (good music, but what a silly name!)
FRANZ FERDINAND
MAROON 5 (in Italian the words "maroni" actually means "testicles")
BLINK 182, SUM 42 and similar
I think I'll take another visit here...
PS.: and as I wrote somewhere else... BLACK VOMIT

Szentendre Nazca
Well, if you dislike names originating after places in general, then yes, but they are not worse than Chicago, Boston, Kansas,Neuschwanstein etc.
Being Hungarian and Peruvian doesn't make them inferior.

They are obviously Franz Kafka fans with a name like that.
Strange that they're not prog though, because i've always accosiated Kafka with prog for some reason.
