I had read somewhere that the proper translation of Revelation does not even yield a 666 reference. That was probably hogwash as well.

Not even a coincidence, it's an invention of an Adventist farmer called William Miller (1782-1849) who made a lot of propphesies including the end of the workld, of course none was real.
Then was used by Ellen Gould White (1827-1915), another fanatic leader of a group.
What this liars never said is that they invented a tittle that THE CATHOLIC CHURCH NEVER USED THE TITTLE "VICARIUS FILII DEI" THAT'S AN ABSURD LIE
The tittle the Pope receives is VICARIUS CHRISTI.
BTW: Even in the utopic and already denied case they were using the Latin Translation, the the sumatory is wrong in the word VICARIUS being that if the
IU = IV = 4, not 6 , so the sumatory would be 664 but they don't talk this.

AFAIK the Catholic church interprets 666 as a code refering to the Emeror Nero.

Actually each letter is summed individually, but it made something else stick out. I did not even notice that 5 was applied to the letter U. It should have been 0 thus the total would be 661.

U and V were the same letter in the Latin alphabet, the U was not treated as a seperate character until the Renaissance.

Can't recall any bands I listen to being involved with satanic ritual, and with a few exceptions my taste mostly lies within groups who started in the seventies... I know the drummer for Tool(Mike Portnoy I believe?) is interested/involved with occult but I don't like much Prog Metal which is where I'd expect most of the occult influence to be. And I don't think psychedelics should be associated with satanism, nor narcotics with mysticism and so forth...

this is mostly false... plus, it's almost impossible to play or compose properly while intoxicated on major psychedelics.

 I have to step in on this. Mike Portnoy is the drummer for Dream Theater. Danny Carey is the Tool Drummer. You may have insulted Tool fans with that statement. Carey is a far more tasteful drummer, IMO.

To StylaZan- According to the Bible sex between and husband and a wife is not only sanctioned but encouraged as well. It's great .I hope you and your wife are enjoying as well, but what does that have to do with what we are talking about, unless yours was a knee-jerk reaction to something that did not go down so well
