 Topic: The Motorsport Thread (was the F1 thread)

I'm sure you've all noticed that its March by now, and that means that the F1 season is about to start again!  It kicks off this sunday in Melbourne, Australia with a 17 race season and finishes At Interlagos, Brazil in October. Looks like its going to be a close fight this year between McLaren and Ferrari, and if I was a betting man I would put money on Alonso getting a third title in a row.Cant wait to see how the British rokies Lewis Hamilton and Anthony Davidson get on as well.

Anyone know how I can catch the races here in the US?
I know it used to be on SPEED but I don't have that in school......
Anyway, I have to agree with you. Alonso is going to take it, I think he'll be the next Schumacher.

It's all on the news, papers, streetsides; This is going to be the best Formula 1 season ever, possibly only for the fact that we've got Räikkönen driving a Ferrari and Kovalainen driving Renault, which means there's a Finn in both leading manufacturers. The only problem is, they are making commercials, hypeing the season, everything, but they're not showing it. Or they are, but you have to pay. It used to be on national tv, now it's all digitalised and costs. Oh well, I would have liked to see how Kovalainen or Räikkönen does, but I'm so not going to pay for that privilege. they're killing all the big sports in our land, oh well, as long as the big guys get to fill their big purses.
I mean, let it die in lands that provided Häkkinen and Rosberg (or JJ. Lehto), the future is in the States where there's more money about.

It would be nice to see Alonso winning this year as well, anyway i expect an exciting Season, Ferrari must fight for the title again, Raikonnen should take a major responsibility and that must be shown since the very first race.
Hey JJ , is Letho a personal heroe for you? the last time i saw him was in the Rolex Daytona 24hrs.

You could say that. When I decided to expand beyond NASCAR I watched F1 and Sports Cars, and that's where I saw JJ and thought, s**t that guy is amazing. One of the best drivers there have been, IMO.
And I do think Ferrari has a good chance for the title again.

I'd keep an eye on Massa this year as well, he's been going extremely well in testing this winter, he's had the legs on Raikkonen at least and Ferrari seems to have a slight car advantage going into the first race.
As for Lehto, its a tragady that he doesnt have a full time contract in sports cars at the moment, he's one Flying Finn.

no no no no no no .... I don't dislike the guy, but I am keen to see
others beat him .... I concede there aren't many to chose from, other
than the Ferrari guys ....

I remember watching JJ in F3 in '88 .... saw him upside down at the Bombhole at Snetterton after an over-ambitious move  .... but I remember telling people he would be world champion within 5 years and really believed he was that good .... he seemed all set for a top F1 drive the next year, then suddenly he was out of favour .... great shame

Now that Schummy is out, the "enemy" is Alonso... I'll keep an eye on Massa, anyway, but I'm quite sure he'll end in 3rd with 2-3 victories, this year.

now that my true "enemy" Montoya is out for good, at last, and now that The Master will be at home watching over TV, I want Raikkonen to finally win it and make us all laugh with his sense of humour and make our hearts soften with his charisma.. ...no, really, I want Raikkonen to win. Alonso, I don't care for him. I hope his winning streak ends.

I was there , and saw it in the front of my eyes...actually all the people were happy with his victory, only a few of us were angry...it was a bad and foul play, even when Pruett was his team mate

He's a great driver indeed and I cheered for him the past year, but I wanna see a new guy there with the trophy! The "enemy" in this case is purely abstract...

seriously folks.........with Shumie no longer on the grid, great driver though he is, it will be interesting to see how things turn out this season! i'll be watching...

Even more so than Dowsing Anemone with Brass Tongue, I think Montoya is the most overrated thing this side of the solar system... he only won in the Indy.. he didn't manage to prove anything in F1, and I know he will ultimately fail in tha atrocity of sport that is NASCAR... I dislike Montoya almost as much as I criticize DT...

I dont know about Senna, he lacks a lot of experience to the other drivers as he never did karting (most people will have done as much as 1000 races in a kart before they step up to cars!), could cost him in th elong run. As for Piquet, hes damn fast and now a Renault test driver. Fisichella's replacment for next year maybe?
