It has to be the first. Even though it was recorded in one day with the band playing live in the studio, it's still so dated now. You still have to marvel at Lennon's vocal on "Twist and Shout", recorded at the end of the day when he hardly had a voice left.

Yeah, Please Please Me. Enjoyable album and remarkable how it was done in a day, plus some of it is still high quality, but I think they left this album well behind even on the follow up. I agree some of it obviously sounds very quaint now- Anna (Go To Him), Chains, Taste Of Honey and Boys especially, imho.
