Topic: Active Topics Posted: February 09 2007 at 09:10 |
I recently started using the Active Topics features so I don't know if this is a recent bug or it's just it's way to go. It has happened to me many times the last week and it's pretty annoying because I'm the kinda guy who reads the forums in an exhhaustive manner. When I start the Active Topics, I read the new posts from the first page with highlighted threads (I do it by opening the threads with "Open in new window"); when I'm done, I go for the next page of threads with new posts, but I get this message: "Sorry, there are no new posts since your last visit" and the displayed time of my last visit is just 20 minutes back (probably the time when I activated the feature). [It also happens when passing from page 2 to page 3, from 3 to 4, etc; and by going "Back" I don't get back what I had, but I get on the main forum page; this means losing all the active topics to read and going for them in the old way; frustrating!] I don't always remember what's the time of my last visit, in order to set up myself the active threads; and even if I do, the options are too standard (last 8 hours, last 12 hours, etc) for me to get to read ALL the posts I've missed.
Can it be fixed, or can I avoid it somehow?

Me neither, but I use Active Topics all the time and I've never had this message.

I use the active topics in the way you describe Andu, and it works fine for me. Are you using the quick log-in by any chance (or not logged in). It's best to use the "Log in" button.
If that's not the answer, it sounds like a cookie related problem.

I know this problem. I also experienced it a couple of times. Really annoying.

it just happened again. at 13:08 pm precisely i turned on the Active Topics feature to read what was posted since 03:40 am, the time of my last visit. this is what it showed me: 5 pages of threads with new posts - . then after fifteen minutes, I clicked "Next" to get on the 2nd page - and this it what it showed me: . By going "Back" I only managed to get on the Forum Index. It has happened on both IE and Firefox. I never use "quick login".
