Ah yes... but we weren't having our tongues cut off for minor infractions.  We were an entirely separate entity from the mainland from nearly the start.  There was NO WAY for the British government to rule us from across the sea.  We aren't talking Super-speed internet days here.  Communication took WEEKS.  However in Iraq you had Big Brother Saddam and his henchman HACKING PEOPLE TO PIECES.
