Ayreon made some futuristic styled albums.

even the medieval concepts were futuristic.

Into the electric castle, Universal migrator etc. though it's probable more space-futuristic than earthly futuristic.Tongue

Right you are rd22 ! But use the personal pronoun "he" for synergy would have looked strange in my sentence.

Good to hear you're enjoing it. There are many other post-rock bands that have that same futuristic style. If you need any other recommendation aside from the two I've mentioned then just ask.Smile

Well, now's your chance. Don't get too excited or expect something big at first listen. It's definetly a grower.

I agree. I remember listening to Godspeed's Lift yr. skinny fists... for the firs time and I thought to myself that this was alien music (alien as in nothing I've ever heard before) and I always pictured futuristic landscapes the first listens of the album.

God is an Astronaut could be a band you might enjoy or maybe even Radiohead. Kid A sounds very futuristic to me as well.

It's not particularily spacey and it does sound futuristic. I always picture myself in a Star-Wars like cantina when listening to it. Cool

I second that.  The V-Drums sound like Adrian just got out of his flying car, but Trey and Robert keep the music quite interesting and warm.  I only have Live Groove though.

I would suggest the whole IDM genre (not just Aphex Twin). I have heard that Autechre is really good, but I'm not really a fan of the genre myself. The most interesting IDM/drill and bass that I have heard (other than Aphex) was actually created by my friend, and it's the only reason why I listen to it from time to time. He's really good (Oh I feel so cheesy plugging him! I'm just being honest!)

He's Zephyr Nova on acidplanet http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?songs=361945&t=9490 (you have to get a membership, but all music is free on that site).
All of his songs in this profile sound pretty futuristic, and he is VERY INFLUENCED by Aphex Twin. Out of his songs, try Day breaks, Life in Reverse, Nausea Medley, Psychic Debris, Robovirtuoso or if you like really loud and crazy try Disgruntled DJ (lots of distortion)

That is such a difficult question! I often crave really adventurous strange music, but rarely find it.

The Flaming Lips have done quite a lot of futuristic yet warm stuff besides Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (which is a great album by the way). Their latest album, for example, has that Yoshimi feel in certain places, although it's less electronics-oriented.

The middle section of Close to the Edge where Rick Wakeman plays that Final Fantasy style bit!

I cannot really help much, sorry.  There is a post rock band that use the sounds of traffic and stuff though, which sounds quite earthy to me.  Good stuff.  Not especially futuristic though.
