Not really abuses but the result of an online translator (from Portuguese into English?) that needs to be fixed...

I know the guy, via internet, and his reviews are great (in Portuguese)... unfortunately he used an on-line translator which is unfair with his dedication, effort and also knowledge of prog-rock.
I kept the texts and will try to help him especially with "Bigorna" from band Cartoon, which is a great album totally underrated (even being sung in English).

hardly a "review" ....????
LED ZEPPELIN — Led Zeppelin IV Review by cherry5 While I was searching for some band in the “L” word index, I saw myself reading the name Led Zeppelin. PROG related (?!?). Then I decided to check what people have to say about the most popular one, based on rating, “Led Zeppelin IV”. It’s an excellent addition to any prog (?!?) music collection they say. Not only that, but 60% of the ratings consider this album to be a MASTERPIECE of progressive music!!!. |

3 stars for a fall down!
To be honest, i would give 4 stars, BUT the place in the poll is too high for me so my contribution is to calm down the result... Yes it's a good album, BUT NOT A MASTERPIECE! Come on! Great music but no lyrics with the taste of eternity! Before to review this on, take the best 10 of all the prog records. Tell me why Moving Pictures is better than those one: DSOTM, Selling, Close, WYWH, ITCOTCK, TLLDOB, Foxtrot, Red, Relayer, Pawn, Octopus... No place in the top ten for THAT ONE,... sorry. That said, MP is a good album fun to listen, taking place around 50 and 100 best of all my records. ------------------------ No. |

I don't know if this is going to actually happen, but I thought I would give you a heads up. My friend, who loves Rush, said he might make multiple users and give Moving Pictures tons of reviews with 5 stars to raise its place in the top 100 albums on this site.

Some guy named Mike_Portnoy_gr posted a pretty abusive reivew for Watchtower's Energetic Disassembly sometime in November 05 (it's the only november 05 review) that basically stated that anyone who didn't like the album could "go listen to fake prog like Pain of Salvation" then he called potential non-buyers "retards" so it both insults people and bashes other bands.

Was just browsing through my reviews and noticed this atrocity:
IN THE WOODS... — HEart of the AgesReview by musicmaniac14Wow. This is an amazing album. In the woods... are one of a kind and one to be appreciated. I happened along this album at a local record store, decided to try it out, and was blown away. I found it really hard to describe this band, but i feel its a mix between King Crimson and Mayhem (ya that death metal band involved in murder, cannibalism, and anti-Christian activity on stage ). Its very unique and i found that anyone willing to try something thats different from the wailing of 90's Scandinavian metal would have to try this. BEWARE: this album is sheer extreme black metal, and isn't like much else on this website. Even though his rating fits in with mine, that has to be the most misleading description I've ever heard. First of all, Mayhem was a black metal band, whose guitarist was killed ("involved in murder", sure!), but that's not important. The sound on the album isn't "sheer black metal" either, although two tracks are carried from their early premature "viking era".
Still, what horrifies me the most is the way he advertised the album, be it a prog site or not: read the text I enlarged. Not only is it misleading and factually wrong, but after reading that, NOBODY in their mind will EVER think about listening to this album just because of the description. If someone posts and says that it is boring, fine, as it doesn't move too fast. If someone says it is monotonous and gloomy, that also makes sense. But calling it what it isn't with that "comparison" that makes absolutely no sense and only repels the sane listeners...
I know that my words probably seem to be unclear to people who haven't listened to the album, but imagine someone rating a Rush record and say "Oh yes, this band sounds like Led Zeppelin - ya that band who got drunk and choked on their vomits!). I am sorry I brought this in, but it makes the situation more picturesque.
(how exactly do you do "anti-Christian activity on stage" by the way?) Edited by Trickster F. - December 11 2006 at 11:58 |

MALICORNE - Vox
This is the first Malicorne CD I've gotten. First heard their music when I was in Paris in 2005 and loved it. Very much into early Euro-folk and some early proggish bands with lotsa mellotron. 'VOX' is a very organic and well done compilation in my opinion. Their voices and arrangements are all unique and sound like early instruments as well!
Keep the rating if you like, but information given is misleading... Vox is just a collection of songs "a cappella", it's no "proggish" at all and there's no trace of mellotron in it...

He should rather take part in the discussion on the forum. Not a word about the album (well, apart from the last sentence... ). He claims that LZ isn't prog yet at the same time he rates the album with five stars which means that it's a masterpiece of progressive music. Ridiculous. Eradicate!
