Written in 1983: METABOLIST: Oddball outfit who disappeared a couple of years ago. Their strange fusion of punk spirit and the avant-garde brought about an aggressive style of music which was displayed to its fullest potential on their LP, singles and cassette album on their own Dromm Records. Two members of the group have recently re-emerged on an album entitled, simply, 'Max And Malcolm' where the sound is more emotive and electronic. from this interesting article: http://media.hyperreal.org/zines/est/articles/wplanet.html |

Thanks for digging up the picture, I knew we had mentioned them before. I think for the rest of their discography they have 2 singles and maybe one cassette release; so I have gathered from looking around. Zeuhl article sounds interesting to me ![]() |

I have some information about them from some old zeuhl articles. Also a couple of press releases with the vinyl. Not much though. Only have that LP as well but what a classic! Would love to track down their couple of singles and old tapes

Yu, I just listen through Metabolist - Hansten Klork again for about the 5th time. This is one amazing album, reminded me a little of some of "This Heat's" more extend compositions. I know they are a British band but have not really been able to find any information of the band. You would not happen to know anything of their history?

^^^^ nice work Joren, just had a look at progtology then. I'm more than happy to see Evohe on the site, as I have loved what little material I have heard. Zeuhl down to the bones that one. Now I have a lot of listening to do.

I removed Musique Noise from the chart (didn't know they were already here). I already added Cortex and Evohe. I don't know either of them, but, concering Evohe: it's no problem that they didn't release any official material IMO; we could list them anyway, for the sake of completeness (but without a discography then). I will have to added both Pochakaite Malko and Xalph (I think they are on our big master list) to our voting list thingy. But Arachnoid should be on the site (me thinks), if we are talking about the one album French band, with the cover entailing a strange hand on a black background. Tell me if I am thinking of the right band here? |

I'd put 'em in Zeuhl although a lot of these sub-sub genres are interchangeable. Great band!

When the time comes to it I will definitely be asking for some help with some, if not most of these bands. Hehe saw that coming with Troll and Musique Noise.
Strawberry Song Orchestra (wouldn't really fit on this site. Bizarre shamisen led horror goth) I was wondering why this one sounded so familiar, my ex was obsessed with band like this one, was very knowledgeable with anything to do with Gothic based music. Yu I wanted to hear your opinion on Rahmann, Instrumental Zeuhl or Jazz-fusion? |

Haha, I'm surprised you have not passed out after 18 hours. Well this is the start of a long process of adding bands (the voting takes a long time), many of which I will love to see on the site. But we needed to start somewhere and this is as good a place as any. Edited by Black Velvet - November 26 2006 at 19:57 |

Nice find, is this going to be one of your next purchases? If you do it will be interested to see what you think of Troll and Musique Noise, Yu has some very strong opinions about both those band (but not in a good way). I really do wish I could use all these online vendors there really is some amazing stuff, but in that respect it might be a good things as well.

Various Artists $8.99 "Enneade" (1987) is exclusively made of previously unreleased tracks by French bands and musicians inspired by Zeuhl music, either musically or historically. A lot wider than a simple musical style, this true religion was originated by MAGMA. Founded in 1969, this band came directly from the rich imagination of Christian VANDER, unpredictable and virtuoso drummer, as well as an incredible vocalist. The track-list of this compilation includes compositions of TROLL, ZALPH, Bernard PAGANOTTI (MAGMA & WEIDORJE), Yochk'o SEFFER (MAGMA & ZAO), ESKATON, François "FATON" CAHEN (MAGMA & ZAO), SHUB-NIGGURATH, EIDER STELLAIRE, MUSIQUE NOISE, FARBEN and ALTAÏS. The only exception to the rule is the contribution by Belgian band UNIVERS ZERO, but it has to be said that drummer Daniel DENIS was part of MAGMA for some time in 1973, and that his current band is the undisputed leader of new musics. For a long time out of stock, the CD version of "Enneade" had become a very rare collector's item. It is now re-issued for the great happiness of the numerous fans. This album is a must for any Zeuhl fan, but also an ideal introduction to this unique universe... 1. You (Magma) 3:59 2. Break Up Dance (Troll) 4:43 3. Gya-Tei (Part 1 & 2) (Xalph) 8:52 4. Urantia (Bernard Paganotti) 9:05 5. Freya (Yochk'o Seffer-STS) 4:27 6. La Lutte (Eskaton) 5:15 7. Dans les Villes Détruites (Francois Cahen) 3:53 8. J'ai vu naguère... (Shub Niggurath) 4:18 9. Millenaires (Eider Stellaire) 3:12 10. Villiers (Musique Noise) 4:32 11. Mutations (Farben) 3:42 12. Altais (Altais) 7:44 13. Toujours plus à l'Est (Universe Zero) 5:29 Edited by avestin - November 26 2006 at 16:37 |
