One of the most inaccessible games to beginners that I know of! (on account of the distinct lack of difficulty settings) I'm still playing Red Alert 2 - one of my all-time favourites - and have got into Far Cry again. Just got access to a computer at the moment, the PS2 and Sega Mega Drive are at home and i'm at University 5 hours drive away...can't win 'em all. |

Football Manager blows 99% of all games right out of the water. Totally addictive and not boring at all. A fantastic game. |

I love sim games, and don't need constant action.I adore football, and played organized football till I was injured in a game as a senior in high school. But I found that game yawn-inducing.

Ah, the best RTS ever! Where do you get stuck? I hope not on the Terran levels!
I recently tried that game, and it was horrible... The AI is indeed a far cry from decent. So you're walking somewhere in the forest when suddenly you're blown up by a rocket... Next try, you hide yourself in one of those bush sprites, and suddenly the awareness of the AI drops down, even when they're right next to you. You can shoot all you wish, making every sound in the world, but still they won't find you. UNTIL you move one step right, apparently that means you're 'out' of the bush somehow. Really, the otherwise great stealth part of this game is ruined by bad AI, that weird stuff with the bushes and the fact that the checkpoints are lineair, so no snooping around from behind! |

Well, yes, on the Terran levels... I'm at Norad II (Mission 6)
My Wraiths and ground troops get dessimated... and yes, I've seeked help and still it's hard, haha. I'll persevere. Oh and yes, this is the Brood War edition, so I've got plenty to play yet. I think in the future, I shall try Fallout and Fallout 2... plenty of time 'til I get to them, however. |

Is that an expansion pack one or just one I haven't heard of?

It's the expansion pack for the original.

I thought Tales Of The Sword Coast was the expansion pack for the original. |

Hmm, generally I've been pretty happy with the AI been told they get close to amazing on higher difficulties - I've had some times where they've flanked me effetively, and I've managed to hide from enemies at pretty close range when I'm prone on the ground and there's long grass and trees in the way. Then you knife 'em in the unmentionables... But the stealth system isn't as precise as Metal Gear Solid 3, say, or the Splinter Cell games. Can't say I agree with you about the checkpoints, there've been parts where I've sneaked around one way, got to a save point, then loaded the previous save point and tried another way - this usually happens when "infiltrating" a base in the middle of the jungle. First Person Shooters are linear by nature, and Far Cry certainly tries its best in my opinion to make itself less obvious. |

Yes, Tales of the Sword Coast, my mistake, but I think it has something to do with Throne of Baal...
It's the 6 CD version, but unfortunately I only borrowed it, so I now no longer have it on my computer (except save games). Edited by Geck0 - October 26 2006 at 13:18 |

Wow, that game I played 20 times. Ok here goes! Baldur's Gate comes in two installments, BG1 and BG2. Both have expansion packs. BG1: Tales of the Sword Coast, and BG2: Throne of Bhaal. The big difference is that ToTSC has nothing to do with the Bhaalspawn saga, while ToB does. In that sense, ToB is a standalone game really, effectively BG3. And if you want help with those games, PM me, I know them by heart. There is also an interesting amount of mods available on: http://modlist.pocketplane.net/ I recommend Ease of Use, Oversight and Rogue Rebalanced mods for BG2. Try Tactics ONLY if you feel like punishing yourself. And Boulderdash, aw man, that was one hard game! Loved those walls that turn rocks into diamonds. |

Try using only squads of marines(upgraded) and move to where you want them with the attack button(or "a" on the keyboard), they'll attack by themselves, and it saves precious time. Micromanagement in this game is extremely important!
Ah, the best RPG's ever released. |
