Instead of putting bands in different Genres, we could do this:
  • Describe The genre like this: for example "Folky Jazz Rock" or "Experimental Prog Metal"
  • Write "Similar Bands", for example: Dream Theater, Similar bands: Symphony X etc...

Hope this will help all the bands that are hard to set in one genre. For Example King Crimson.

This was an old idea and really hard to explain.
Thanks! Smile

If you like you can come over to my website and have a look ... I implemented a genre mechanism that works just like you describe it here (www.progtology.com). I'm grateful for any help or feedback!Smile

I've been thinking that's actually a great idea, when I go looking for new bands I'd kind of like to have a better idea of what they sound like by comparissons to other bands.  If your looking at Kamelot they could suggest a band like Nightwish or King's X.
I once was cool, but now I'm cold. Can you please turn up the heat.

M@x said that there will be a genre by album feature in the future. My question is, how far is that future?
