I took some anti-depression medicine earlier tonight, so that's kind of helping. Confused

I don't want to get in your private issues. I'm sure you have serious reasons to say (writte) that. But... happiness can come from very simple things. The trick is to be able to see those things. I say this from a very complicated perspective; this days, I'm still working very hard, trying to deliver my work in time, still building a house for my parents (previous house was eaten by termites, I had to demolish it, it was like seeing my memories falling, teared appart by myself). On the happy side, my girlfriend is about to finish her studies of Psichology, so she is going to be (at last) close enough for me to see her anytime I want, instead of the actual visits every 2 - 3 weeks, always according to her activities. ¿My happy moments?; visit friends, play with my old cat, reading, walking, MUSIC, writting, and recently, being picked up for publication in a short stories recopilation volume. Someone ointed out this in another thread: time is much too precious a comodity to waste it on unhappyness (I'm not really sure about that word; sorry). Hoping that your statement isn't based in very hard situations, I can only say that I wish you can find something to be happy about, or for you to be wise enough to notice if you need more help that just pills. I have a friend, Americo; he is cursed somehow, since anyting seem to work ok on his life. 3 years ago, he tried to kill himself, mostly because a very bad relationship. When he recovered, his closest friends just realized how on that particular year he was more quiet than usual, and how little we new from him. And he needed our help. Now, we are not mind readers; that girl was poison indeed, but he never told us anything about it. That is crucial.

All it takes to be happy is to entertain yourself in some way.  Whether it's socially or individually, all it takes is some good entertainment to feel good about life or yourself.

Rewarding moments with other people are usually the most effective.

Nice observation Cucuna. Many times we are blind to how serious a friend's pain can be.

Stonie, I know it's hard when you are down. Nothing seems to help, and you can't imagine anyone being able to understand. Something I have learned is that nothing is permanent. Change is the only thing we can truly count on. Just remember, no matter how crappy things may seem, they won't stay that way. They can't.

I took anti-depressants when I was 14 or so and depressed.  Trust me, it's just a phase, you will get better.  I'm hardly ever sad anymore (I'm actually quite happy and optimistic) so there is hope for happiness. Tongue

I have never been depressed and proud of itApprove

On the other hand, I'm always depressed but it's on a healthy level. My condition for the last couple years is more accurately described as extreme pessimism than depression.
