BTW: I'm thinking about History too, but am beginning to stray. I
want to be involved with "the now;" I'm a foreward thinking person
really...."progressive" when you get down to it .
The reason I'm leaning away from History is because one of the main
things that interests me (or used to) is WW2, but I'm so opposed to war
now that I'm beginning to loathe the subject. Also, I want to be
constantly "in the know" and on the cutting edge of what's happening
technology- and culture-wise, with a progressive job, and IMO teaching
is quite the opposite: quite stagnant, especially in the subject of
history. So I don't really know what I'm going to do. I was planning on
getting the basic credits for college first anyway and then focusing on
a major. I just don't want to be involved in the management aspects of
a corproation. That puts me off, but I'll be looking around. |
hmmm...
just remember a great way to understand the now.. is to understand how
we got to the now.... try to consider the situation in the middle east
if you don't understand the history of it. I loved history... I
took a class on South Asia (India/Pakistan) and it opened a whole new
world to me and a different way of seeing things. Seriously
consider history..
|
I do understand the basic history of the world without going into
much detail, so I'm well aware as the next guy on how we got to where
we are. It depresses me further. I want to distract myself as much as
possible. Thus, a career in politics is out of the question. |
I seriously considered a career in politics.. love it as much as history and math actually.. however my
career in politics was derailed the day an ex-girlfriend made off with
a videotape of me in drag in New Orleans at a gay bar...
|
Nah, look how far George Bush got. |
oh yeah good example.... if I ran against Al Gore and John Kerry... I'd probably win as well What has happened to my beloved Demorcratic party... Well have a good night Stonie.. I'm off into the sunset.. another day closer to death....

I really like Political Philosophy, but my interest in pure politics keeps consistently dropping.
Ansen, you desparately need something to do with your time. Do you talk to anyone?

Democrats suck cock cause they can't seem to get their Neo-Conservative tendencies out of their mind, while the Republicans are nearing Neo-Fascism!
There are politicians that are good within both parties, but however, it seems America is no longer a democracy, but more like an oligarchy. Free ideas are not around anymore and are not circulated anymore.
Anyways

I find it very interesting. Politics is a game and I have to admit it fascinates me. However, it's a game I could never play and like I said....I would have no shot...for a few reasons.

Man, that really is tough, best of luck to you, and make sure you don't work somewhere that is incredibly understaffed if you can avoid it. You will relate hate your job. My Office Depot is short. 1 manager with one manage leaving 2 techs with our only tech becoming a manager 3 stockers 2 cashiers that is really really really bad, but it's nice job security...

^It was understaffed at my last job (at food lion, a grocery store), and it was pretty bad, I was doing most everything whenever I was working.
It was so easy last year, but now, it's so difficult to find one.

I was enrolled in a PhD program about 18 months ago...then I said "F this, school sucks", quit my job, moved from suburban DC to suburban Philly, and had a kid.
I may still try to go back to school, but my feeling right now is not bloody likely.

(if anyone actually wants to know)
I've spent the last two weeks absolutely dreading the start of school which is now uncomfortably close. That's about it.

Life, eh? Real non-music related life? Okay.
I have just finished the French courses and passed the exam(relatively well)today. My nerves are a bit shattered thanks to that, so I'll have to do nothing until school starts on the 4th of September. I need to relax. Besides that, nothing else really interesting.

The company I work for ( TNT Logistics ) has just been sold to a investors company called Apollo. Don't know what to expect for the future. Some say the company does some long term investments. Considering a work change, try for something completely different.

Been at friends, eating pizza and drinking coke. Listened to Steely Dan's "Gaucho" album twice. Otherwise, nothing.
