...er actually, it was me who posited the theory that bass guitar is the new lead guitar (thanks for the reference )... I also posit the theory this young gentleman appears to have nodded off (must be playing early Pallas). |

(Tristan Mulders says I look like Steven Wilson on this pic. Go figure! )
I promised to post this pic a long time ago.
Here's the story:
I went to Oslo, Norway, for 3 days with my parents in the April of this year, and before that I had been browsing through the internet and found out some interesting information - the famous Metal festival Inferno was held, and Emperor were one of the participating bands, after 5(I think)years of inactivity as a band. I also heard a signing session would be heard, and although there was no way I would buy that overexpensive ticket(plus, my parents were with me), I still went to the signing session.
Arrived one hour earlier than needed, and yet still stood up in the looong queue. They arrived just in time, and I shook Ihsahn's hand and started talking to him immediately. Long hours of wait and general nervousness made me stutter over words and I believe I said to him that it is a great honour I am from Latvia, to which he responded by introducing himself. I was very nervous, so although I heard his words very well, I understood them after I had left the building, yet I still laughed out loud. Afterwards, I told to him that I really enjoyed his solo album "The Adversary" and he asked me what exactly I liked about it. Once again, I heard his question but could not comprehend, so I just shouted "I REALLY LIKE IT, IT IS BRILLIANT!" He started to look bored, so I asked if I could take a picture with him and also asked him to sign my poster of Anthems to The Welkin At Dusk. I also asked Trym and Samoth to do the same, and before living the room, I did something out of the ordinary. I came running back to Samoth and shouted loudly "Great technique!" and then ran away again.
Crazy stuff. Wonder if fanboys always act like this when they meet their idols, huh?

I never act like that... in fact.. I once lend my mobile phone to an Idol so he could tell a friend of mine how great I was to let him borrow my phone just to talk to her

You should post a picture of yourself with Hogarth, Tris, that would be pretty Prog-Related.
I am completely different though, when I was shaking Ihsahn's hand I thought "Holy flying mellotron's mother, I am shaking Ihsahn's hand!" and got even more nervous. Still, it's an amazing scene in my life that I will probably never forget with all its details.

I'm pretty sure you'd like many of the post-BM bands we have in the archives under 'Progressive Metal', but then again our tastes differ both in Prog(I like more avantish stuff and can't stand either Neo-Prog or Retro bands like TFK)and Metal(you are into more melodic stuff, I like proggy, extreme and bizarre things), so what is good for me may not appeal to you at all. Butt out, I've got no problems with you.

Yea, but make sure you guys don't add too many bands into Prog Archives and add King's X
I only like two Neo bands. Edited by King of Loss - August 22 2006 at 15:07 |

Well, you like two, I like one.
Our main objective is to be as productive as possible, but of course we will not add bands that hardly belong here, Flossy. If an addition is not up to your tastes or standards though, I suppose you're better off approving it though... Not that nobody ever judges our decisions harshly and impolitely.
