Topic: Happy the Man, symphonic Posted: June 19 2006 at 00:41 |
HI, THIS IS CÉSAR INCA.
I think I've changed my mind quite a bit about the amazing American banda HAPPY THE MAN's status at the Archives. Even though I feel like they fit more in teh jazz-rock-fusion category (not unlike HANDS), I'd prefer to see them labelled as Symphonic instead of the confusing, misleading art rock badge. HANDS are already labelled as symphonic, so why shouldn't HTM be the same, anyway?
Iván, if you are reading this, please take notice of this new suggestion.
Kind regards.

Ivan is not reading this, but I am, and we will definitely discuss it at our next meeting. I hope it's OK with you.

HTMis definitely more of jazz rock/fusion essence than symphonic.

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword

Yes, I gree with Sean, but apparently they don't seem interested in recruiting HTM in that label, so symphonic is the next most accurate thing. Much better than that art rock infamous stuff. Hands is also labelled as a symphonic prog band, being as they are so similar to HTM, so one way or another, it makes more sense than the art rock thing.
To be realistic, I have to propose a fair symphonic prog label for Wyatt. Whitaker and co.
Kind regards.

Cesar, we decided that Happy the Man was not Symphonic by unanimous vote of all the team members and should go to Fusion.

Honestly I still believe Happy the Man is more Fusion than any other genre but this doesn't depend of me, it's Zac's decision who leads the Fusion tream.
But we all agreed Happy the Man is not Symphonic (Except Seyo who couldn't vote), the second best place for Happy the Man is Art Rock because a band that blends Fusoion and Symphonic is also Art Roc material.
I will PM Zac again but this kind of discussions should be taken inside the team, we're still every night in MSN and in this Forum and being you a member you can join the three of us any day, this week we will try to finish the review of Symphonic bands and as always we need extra minds.
See you soon.

Ok then, HTM is closer to jazz-rock/fusion, I totally agree. THEN HANDS IS TOO!!
I'll discuss it privately with you and the other specialists some other time.
Kind regards.
