If you can ignore the fact that Jon Anderson is not singing on the album "DRAMA", I think this is
an exellant album. It has pretty much every thing that's likeable about PROG music.
I hope i am not crucified for making such a blasphemised statement that another singer could
 sing on a YES record
     PLEASE FORGIVE ME!

pfff... if you ignore this album just because Anderson isn't on it.... you're not worthy of being a prog fan.  Open-minded baby.. that's what it's all about.  GREAT album.. in my top 5 Yesalbums.

Great album.  Howe, Squire, and White are firing on all cylinders here.

I actually was expecting not to like this this album, but it's very good. it is different, but that's a good thing. I wouldn't have wanted the new guys to just be session men. I think it was the last four star Yes album. There is no argument that it is better than "Tormato," but I think it is even better than "Going for the One."

With the exception of a few tracks, I find GftO rather uninteresting.

bad album, but some good moments on it.

but I must say I would have ranked it amongst the likes of Union and Open Your eyes if Anderson would have carried the lead vocals.

luckely Jon wasn't present when they created this drama so I need not consider it as an actual Yes piece, and can judge it without the previous background.

still basically it isn't really good.

The last great Yes album. By far their most under appreciated album. It's a really strong album in that while Machine Messiah rightly gets most of the attention there are some other great tracks on the album. Into the Lens is brilliant as is Tempus Fugit. Man in a White Car is one of my favourite sub two minute filler tracks on any album by any band.

personally I see it the same way... for what it's worth.. Tormato gets more plays in the player than GFTO.  My least listened to of the essential Yes albums of the 70's.

hmmm... I tend to define bad albums as those lacking... good moments... hahah

Drama is probably one of my favorite Yes albums, much in the same way that Duke (same year, same first letter) for Genesis is one of my favorite albums.

The dominance of Squire's bass playing, as well as a tight sound brought to the table by Howe and White with newcomers and one-time Yesmen Downes and Horn, this incarnation of Yes probably would've made a sweet second album if they stayed together. Unfortunately, most people didn't and still can't get around the Anderson-less Yes on Drama, with it's appropriate title, but with some harder-edged music that I enjoy.

-Marc.

well said... I always thought Drama spotlighted the underappreciated critical component of the 'Yessound' which were their  stellar vocal harmonies.  Though there is no Anderson.. it still sounds like Yes vocal-wise....

I really don't see what Duke and Drama have to do with each other, aside from being released in the same year.

I think Drama is Yes's last four star album.

Actually, Drama is one of my favorites. Those who don't like it simply because Anderson's not on it are (probably) the same people who don't like Marillion because Fish isn't with them anymore. It's the inability to progress along with a band.

I'll go to my grave believing that Drama is one of the better Yes albums.

Close to the Edge is amazing!! Fragile is incredible!!

That should prevent people from reading the small text.
