Topic: Worst team in professional sports? Posted: July 10 2006 at 16:46 |
I live in Kansas City and a life-long Royals fan. The other day on ESPN I seen Jason Whitlock (who happens to be a sportswriter for the KC Star) say the Royals were "the worst team in professional sports". I know they have been real bad the past few years, but isnt this a little extreme? C'mon someone think of a worse sports team.

The Houston Texans. The '49ers have been pretty bad lately too. The Arizona Cardinals, while maybe not having the worst record, are also consistently bad year after year after year. Winning 9 games tops in the last how many years and rarely breaking .500. At least the Royals had some good years with guys like George and Hal and Bret

The Blackhawks have been terrible lately, but I wouldn't call them the worst professional sports team. The Atlanta Thrashers have never made the playoffs in their history, neither have the Columbus Bluejackets.
I would currently say the worst team in professional sports is the New York Islanders. Not because they place terrible every year, (they do), but because they have made so many terrible trades. They've traded away an entire core of a Stanley Cup winning team for trash.

If you are just talking about 05/06 English Premier League, Sunderland lost a whopping 29 games and managed to win just a few times.

Ferrari. If you need to bend the rules and go against the spirit of the
sport even when you're dominant for years on end there's something
rotten at the core.

Basketball: LA Clippers (despite their great season this year)
Clippers are my favorite team

So true...
Really though, has to be the New Orleans Saints. They had a record of 3-13, lost to Green Bay (who only had a 4-12 record on the year) by a score of 52-3, then finished the season by losing 10 of their last 11. The only team they managed to beat after Week 4 was the New York Jets by one lousy point, and the Jets had their 3rd string quarterback in the game. Terrible!

No matter how well a Cleveland team is doing, they will fall apart at some point (if they didn't suck from the get-go). Not even Lebron James can stop the Cleveland Sports Curse.

how about the Arizona Cardinals? They're the oldest pro football team around and have a post-season record of 2-5. It doesn't get much worse

Couldnt agree with you more, the day they hired Jean Todt as principal was the day the Ferrari spirit died for me.
