ROONEY COULDN'T SEE WHERE HE WAS PUTTING HIS FOOT. HIS BACK WAS TURNED. THE REFEREE SAW THIS AND GAVE A FREE KICK.
At this point he wasn't reaching for his cards, but after the Portugese playrs surrounded him, he saw Rooney give a very small shove to Ronaldo, and suddenly decided it was enough for a red card.
And the reaction from the Argentinians on this board to England going out shows how utterley retarded it was to put an Argentine in charge of an England match. |
John Motson referred to the ref as an 'Argentine' time after time after time. He is 'Argentinian'. And the only retard I saw on TV was Shearer saying that Rooney should stick one on Ronaldo the next time they meet - as if violence solves anything - and this from a 'respected' former internationalist!! Pathetic.

Nothing seem like real in this World Cup..... Argentina, England and BRAZIL![Shocked](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif) are out......I feel sorry for the Brazilians but sooner or later they had to be out, I wanted that also.....Now, I want France to win the cup and the f**k*n Germans to be eliminated because they didn't deserve to be where they are at the moment, Argentina deserved more than them IMO.....Now we got to wait 4 f**k*N YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, my favourite team, my home country, England are out, but they didn't deserve to get any further anyway. My second fave team, Sweden, are also out, and they didn't deserve to go any further either! But, my third fave team, Germany, are still in, and I believe they can win the cup now. And they deserve to as well. They always get bad press, and they are supposed to have a weak team. (And last world cup they had a weak team too, so weak it got to the final!)
And at least the team I dislike the most are out, Brazil! Yes, thank god they have gone. Unfortunately, my second most disliked team, France, are still in. I think now it will be a Germany - France final. And hopefully the Germans can win it.

Nobody for Italy?
I like them a lot, i know the referee helped them against Australia, and i also know that Ukraine wasn`t strong enough to hold them... but now against that host Germany, Italy must prove and show us how big are they, they have brilliant players, but as you know they`ll have always their "catenaccio" and defensive style, i really hope Italy wins , and then... Zizou is a god... but anyway i`d like to see Portugal doing it`s best and why not beating France

I think another reason Brazil did so badly was because before the game they were listening to Pagode music. They looked too relaxed and didn´t seem to be that serious.

That might not happen. There are too many good teams standing in front of Brazil and Argentina, especially Germany. But we never know.
I was really hoping Mexico would bury home the Argentines today! ![Confused](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif) ![Ouch](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif)

Ok... so now yoùr best team of the World Cup and the whole world are out... sorry my friend...
let me remind you the last 3 important Arg - Mex matches:
1. Copa America ... Mexico won 1 -0 with a freekick goal, and actually it was a well deserved victory
2. Confederations Cup: yes, Argentina won in penalty kicks, but before Mexico were winning 1- 0 and then lucky Figueroa found the ball in the goal zone... again Mexico play a bit better
3. This Germany World Cup 2006, you have to accept it man... Maxi saved you... a brilliant goal , but in the match Argentina was clearly pwned
I understand your point, and im sure Argentina is a monster, always a favorite team to win a cup , i like them a lot , you have football in your blood, and of course the history say that Mexico compared with Argentina is nothing.
But well, after remind you that 3 last matches... i know, the final score say that you won... but in the field... you have lost lately ...
Modesty please!

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition either!!!
Now seriously, I'm glad to see the three of us agree here, but one thing is not expecting a team to win and another thing is a team not having any chances to win at all.
For good or for bad, the "expected one" doesn't always win.
Paz!

ME TOO. I THINK THAT MEXICO IS A GREAT TEAM, AND THEY DID A REALLY GOOD JOB AT THIS WORLDCUP.
MEXICAN PROGRESS IN FOOTBALL WAS AMAZING LAST YEARS.
AND, OK... IS ALWAYS A VERY COMPLICATE TEAM TO ARGENTINA!!
BUT THAT WAS ONLY A JOKE. PLEASE, DON'T MISUNDERTUND IT.
BUT YOU CAN'T DENY THAT EVERYBODY EXPECTS ARGENTINA TO WIN...
(THOUGH REALLY THE MEXICAN TEAM HAVE MADE US SUFFER TOO MUCH...!!!)
THERE ARE TEAMS THAT WOULD DESERVE TO CONTINUE IN THE WORLDCUP, LIKE: MEXICO, ARGENTINA, ENGLAND, NETHERLANDS, GHANA, AUSTRALIA AND MANY OTHERS.
ARE YOU IN AGREEMENT?

IVAN:
I Remember that... I was 11 years old in 1982.
Malvinas/Falklands Islands war...
That was a really stupid war (with terrible consequences), and It should never have happened...
And I remember, the ONLY country that really one endured as brother and offered his help to Argentina was Peru...
Imagine it: two countries that always had good relations (in fact, they was negotiating the sovereignty of these Islands), like England and Argentina, that never had a problem, fighting horribly...
And our peruvian brothers were with us (in spite of our inferiority of forces, the intervention of the N.A.T.O., or the help of USA, and even of some nearby countries that had to help us but they did the opposite...).
Even, I had at that time (and have now) friendship with english people, and descendants from them (here), and even I had an realated education with them.
And I was listening to british (Queen-Supertramp-Alan Parsons-Yes-Genesis) music all day, but it was silly prohibited!!! (Until Yes came in 1983).
I hope that something like that never repeats!!!
I really like Peru, IVAN.
A secret: my sister is Argentine, but she is borned in... Lima!!!! (The capital of Peru).
My parents lived in Peru, Brazil and Ecuador, before I was born, during a time, because of the work of my father.
And, though I listened to all my life to speak about the arrogance of the "porteños", the things have changed...
Now, with the exchange favorable to the foreigners, Buenos Aires (with his "porteños"), is replete with tourists!
I talk to tourists almost every day in the street, and really I try to be nice, to understand them and to help them (even in languages more difficult to me than english!!!...).
And I see many people to do it also.
Ask them about the hospitality and respect with which they are treated, as well as other foreigners who live here...
Let's joke about football, but let's forget the prejudices about every country...
