Embarrassed Maybe this belongs in "Bugs in yer Teeth," but today on my bike I saw:
 
Lots of butterflies on the road
They are attracted to bear sh*te, it seems...Confused

Peter,

We have, at last count, six rabbits (two "grown-ups", a "teenager", and three "babies") in our backyard.  Haven't seen the babies in a while though (unfortunately I did see a cat roaming around back ther), but the teenager is usually out and about.  I'll see if I can snag any pictures.

BIRDS! BIRDS! BYRDS!
 
South America is the continent of the birds!!!
 
Some hummingbirds or colibris are commonly seen near where I live...
 
 
This one is spectacular: the red tanager (Ramphocellus bresilius), the scientific name says all: only found in Brazil (rare but not endagered).

We live right next to a small wooded area that is being cleared for housing and more and more little animals are making their way up to our yard. Mostly "cute widdle bunny wunnies," but some squirrels too. Big smile

We have everything from deer to foxes, even to wild turkeys in my backyard. We also get ducks in the pool at my house often... no bunnies or things of that nature, though, unless you count skunks...Wink

and coming home I even saw some wild



grazing next to the Red Rock area.

Not a lush ecosystem, but definitely a fascinating one!

I was all set to tell about the foxes & owls & raptors & deer & pheasants & swallows in our patch - then I saw Atkingani's humming birds & JL's arachnids & the Romanian - mountain goat, is it? - and thought Nah........

I have deer and wild turkey in my backyard, I love it.  We also have lots of groundhogs, who fight with the rabbits over grazing turf--hilarious.

i took part in the last british national "birdwatch" survey, and in an hour counted 47 birds, including, starlings, robins, pigeons, a few sparrows, blue tits and great tits. a fox ran across the road in front of my car this morning, we often see them in the suburbs of London as they are being hounded out of the countryside. the way things are going we'll be seeing badgers soon too!

Gosh, James, that was a Black Widow spider in your pic, wasn't it? Can't say I'd like to see one of those at close quarters...Shocked

Here in Rome there may be some wildlife, but mostly it's birds (blackbirds often go on a rampage in my flower pots, looking for seeds or insects to eat...Wink) - when you don't get to see some disgusting sewer rats Dead. The Eternal City, though, is quite famous for its large cat population, which used to be much larger. That's something I really love about it! Heart

BTW, Rico, we do also have those mountain goats (chamois is the French name, camoscio in Italian) in the Western Alps, and they're also protected.
