Topic: 4/1 dt concert Posted: April 02 2006 at 11:03 |
Just got back from the sold out 20th anniversery show at Radio City Music Hall!
It was incredible!
They had an alright first set. They did Another won( their first song ever when they were Majesty) and Raise the knife( a great song that never made it onto an album becase of the nazi-like record producers) and those were really cool to see done.
They had the theme of going chronologically form the beginng to there current state of career.
So it starteted with Root of all Evil and I walk beside you because its the octavarium tour. But then they started from the begining
Another Won
Afterlife
Under a Glass Moon
Innocence faded( james hit the F# incredibly)
Raise the Knife
Spirit Carries on ( awesome solos and overall energry)
-intermission-
Then the curtains rise up to reveal a full 30 piece orchestra and they start playing the Overture to 6doit
then they continue to play all of the second disc with the orchestra! it was incredible
Then...
Vacent( still w/ orch)
The answer lies within
Sacrificed Sons
Octavarium
-encore-
Metropolis pt 1
It was an incredible concert
To have the orch for the full second set and encore was unbeliveable!

I can strangle a canary in a tin can and it would be really original, but that wouldn't save it from sounding like utter sh*t.

Wow...the whole Six Degrees is awesome. I'm glad they played Under a Glass Moon for the album too. I would be slightly disappointed with the selections from Scenes and Train of Thought, but Live Scenes and Budokan alrady have all I need from both of those, with Vacant being an exception, and they played that here. I would have liked Learning to Live too, especially with LaBrie hitting the high notes, but I can't complain; this is going to be great.

I was at the show as well, almost cried when I realized they were going to do all the 6 Degrees. I never though I would see it done live. But now it seems I'll probably have seen it done live for the last time, and the only time with a full orchestra.

It is so great to hear about incredble performances and concerts....
What to me is so sad is that there is so little recorded history of the best concerts of the early rock era...
I attended an amazing concert in South London in 1970 w/ Mountain/Rod Stewart and Pink Floyd at the Crystal Palace Bowl,,,, but I can find nothing about it on the net>>>>>>>>>>>

Actually yeah they were selling the Dark Side of the Moon bootlegs... I was also at this DT show (my 9th overall) OMG it was fantastic and yeah I allmost couldn't contain myself when they started to play Six Degrees it was magnificient. I'm hoping I could see myself on the DVD when it comes our late this fall... for now the boys are taking a well deserved rest. Octavarium was stunning as well (loved the animation).
