Winamp has some security problems which should have been fixed by the latest version 5.13 ... but apparently the problems still exist.

If you use Winamp, you should deactivate the automatic opening of playlists ... until the bug is solved. To do so, go to Options -> Preferences -> General Preferences -> File Types and deactivate the association with the file types m3u and pls.

There is an exploit for a vulnerability involving long track names in playlists. If someone places a manipulated playlist file on a website and you view the website, Winamp opens it ... and your computer might be infected with malicious software.

So the best solution is to just remove the associations with playlist files (m3u,pls) like I explained above, so Winamp does not automatically open them.

Thanks Mike.  Now Winamp can get back to what it's designed for.... for whipping the llama's ass.
