I have some of their albums and I like them very much, but I can't agree here. They are a great melodic power metal-listen, but NO WAY prog enough to be progarchives-compatible.

A better question would be, what is prog about them? They're one of the most straightforward and often painfully generic power metal bands I've ever heard, and even then, their latest release sounds more like Motley Crue than anything else, which is really disappointing. Jens Johannson is an amazing keyboardist who I think should be in a prog group, but Strato is most definitely not a prog band.

Better compare them with Brainstorm, who are also misplaced here, but no one seems to care.

Must correct myself here. The German power metal band Brainstorm (also a band I like, but not for prog) was on the archives a while ago, now they are deleted.

Haven't looked in the index under B since longer.

Strato are absolutely 100% NOT prog at all!

They're the textbook definition of European Power Metal.

Just because a band has amazing guitar and key solos doesn't make them progressive.

No thanks. There's  more than enough unprog power metal in the archives already.

A good band with great musicians, but not a progressive band.

Although they are certainly not less prog than Nigtwish.

That can be said for Metallica they are PROG Releated between 1984-1988 but just barely, but I cant comment on Stratovarius as I am not familiar with them.

Personally think Jens Johansson could do much better (but presume this is paying for a pension) and could be stretched further playing jazz rock - did some great work with Jonas Hellborg early 90's and a couple of good albums with Mastermind. Wasted in Stratothingiebob
