Other, Jimi Hendrix. Maybe the Beatles influenced more people, I just thought Jimi Hendrix should definitely be on the list. Hendrix influenced me much more than the Beatles.

agree with Hendrix but the poll states 'most influential BAND'.
we are talking about group work... Hendrix did it on himself... or am I wrong?

Sadly, I'd have to say Nirvana. Sure these guys on the list pratically defined rock, but Nirvana changed the direction of everything. I don't think they're bad, but then gazillions of bands started to copy their style and didn't succed at doing it.

Hmmmmm... i hade to vote for The Rolling Stones yust look at any rock band to day and you will see the stones was and now more then ever is a big influens on look and sound, the beatles did some nice experiments with sound and styles but not many band now days sounds like em, many sounds like the stones.

Hmmm, ya ya ya, she loves ya, sure, but then we have Elvis, and The Beach Boys. Oh, and I almost forgot. Crosby Stills Nash and Young. Manfred Mann comes to mind as well. Gee and not to mention Zappa of course, but he is more of a musicians musician. The Stones of course must be mentioned. I think it really depends on the music. Personally I think that the Blues and Jazz have had the biggest influence on "rock" music. You ask for a band though, hmmmmm.
I will go with Elvis Presley and his band.

I do not understand why The Stones are that low. They were a solid influence of rock. Not hard rock, but just rock with firm and steady drumms at the back of the band. Far from Prog, close to Rock.

I am not even a big Beatles fan, but I have to vote for them anyway. I
do wish you had included the Velvet Underground though. I think they
were incredibly influential.

Where's Frank Zappa? Pretty much every genre of music to come after 1966 was predicted by the album 'Freak Out'. But since he wasn't there I voted for the gods of rock, Led Zeppelin.
