THE MARS VOLTA De-loused in the Comatorium
Review (Permanent link) by Pir2 @ 2:50:17 PM EST, 7/8/2005
— What can I say?, I only heard a scream, my ears have had a bad day, I
ddidn't recognize a single note, only a thrashing of tub, a bad keyboarding,
and a guitarristthat want to play like 10 Years After, but with bad results.
Fortunately exist The Dark Side Of The Moon to healt my ears...
Sorry I don't know how to copy it exactly. This is not even a review, the
reviewer explains that he "only heard a scream" (even though there isn't any
screaming in the mars volta.) He obviously never even listened to the album
in it's entirety, which is frustrating.

YES Tales From Topographic Oceans Review (Permanent link) by Sead S. Fetahagic @ 11:09:49 AM EST, 6/4/2005 PROG REVIEWER
 — I usually agree with Hugues' reviews and this is no exception! It must be said finally loud and clear that many of our beloved prog bands occasionally produced crap albums and totaly uninspired works. YES is no exception and as one of previous reviews noted well, this album is perhaps a good example why some music lovers hate progressive rock. Double LP of boring, quasi-philosophical "space" trips with lots of pompose and over- grandiose music solos, lacking basic emotions needed to intrigue the listener. I already stated in "CTTE" review that if it was a peak of their career it also announced a downfall to the arena of showmanship of "rock dinosurus", which created some of the most empty and self-indulgent music in the world and invoked the coming of the "punk saviours"! Granted, YES produced even worse albums than "Topographic" (see "Tormato"), but here it all started. I could personnaly listen only to some parts of "Ritual" without the urge to approach the turntable , lift up the cartridge, take the record, place it back into the sleeve, put it on the shelf and forget about it forever. If you are a newbie into prog, avoid this. Listen to the first five albums and if you get yourself addicted to YES then you may wish to complete your collection with this one. 1,5-2 stars.
NOW...here's the second one.

SBF,
Just because someone actually agrees with me does not mean that he is wrong !!!
However the second review, looking by the date is simply copy/paste and should be deleted!! But the first one is valid opinion!

Sean....I didn't say that he is/was wrong. The reason I posted it is simply because it is/was complete plagarism. I know the first one is a valid opinion; which is why you'll notice my disclaimer at the top of the post.
OH sh*t! I get what you meant now....I meant to say that the SECOND one is inappropriate. Sorry....

Symphonic Prog (Studio Album, 1971) VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR "Pawn Hearts" Review (Permanent link) by Olympus Posted 1:51:11 AM EST, 11/23/2005
Pawn Hearts is at the same level of greatness as Close to the edge by Yes, and every second of it is amazing just like Clost to the edge. The highlights of the album are... everything, I realy can't choose Man-Erg and A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers are two of my favorite songs. five starsm no less.
The typical fanboy reviews

I'm on the case with those two LL, plus the long Rush in Rio DVD one which simply quoted a review from elsewhere. (No one spot that one? )

I checked with the reviewer, and he apologised profusely confirming he did not have permission. He just thought it was a good review.
I think he genuinely misunderstood the purpose of the site, and didn't realise you had to write the reviews yourself!

MUSE* Absolution Review (Permanent link) by PaHa @ 10:23:45 AM EST, 11/24/2005
 — I'm not sure wether MUSE belongs in the Prog Archives or not. Their music is great! It's alternative. It's definately no popular radioplay music. I'd give this album a 4 star but since it can't be REAL ProgRock I'll give it 3 stars.
If you like bands like SOLAR or RADIOHEAD you'd be intressed (and vise versa of course!)

ha ha, I almost feel flattered that Drew copied my review! Of course it is inappropriate and I started checking again to see where I might have made mistake in my review because I thought I gave a valid opinion on that one. But now it seems SBF appologised so everything is settled now. Thanks everyone for spotting this.

Please check this person tamtam!
I am not sure whether what s/he is doing is inappropriate, but even I, who am sometimes a strict critic, do not post so many low ratings . Tamtam gave so many bad ratings without a single word of explanation, not to mention "reviewing". Seems to be a very strict and narrow fan of VDGG, KING CRIMSON, Beefheart and URIAH HEEP and nothing else !!!
Any opinions?

Certainly a valid email address is given when submitting Seyo, and there's no apparent indication that they are trying to manipulate the ratings, so I can't really do much. It goes back again to the old ratings without reviews issue. In this case though, even requiring registration would not change the situation.
The reviewer must be a manic depressive though if they spend so much time listening to albums they don't like much.

Never in my life has i seen such a maronic reviewer as TAMTAM as you said he only seemed to give 4-5 ratings to albums of VDGG.CB, peter hamill URIAH HEEP AND KING CRIMSON
and while managing to give most other prog classics one star reviews he managed to give radioheads ok computer 5 stars!
Haha i doubt he has even heard the albums he has reviewed i mean he has given most yes and dream theater records 1 and 2 stars and i dont belivie that he would continue to buy records of and artist that he thinks makes only 1 and 2 star albums
So id say TAMTAM is an excelent example of an totally unserious reviewer that gives out 5 stars to anything made of his favourtie bands while the rest is crap (Althogh he has not cared to listen to it even

JETHRO TULL "Rock Island " Review (Permanent link) by Brian Grills Posted 5:07:39 AM EST, 11/25/2005
Can't be bothered writing a review. 2 and a half stars. Whaler's Dues however is a classic. Buy it for that. Bid Riff and Mando I like. What else? Nothing much more worth listening to. Kissing WIllie?!!!!!! You have to be joking! "Rock Island" probably gets worse as the years roll on. Next year I'll give it one star.
+Several other reviews

I am also a huge fan of VDGG and CRIMSON, and I even gave 5 to "OK Computer" too (don't shoot at me!) , but tamtam seems really to hate all other music, if ever bothered to give it a listen. But, as Easy said, probably no harm is done and no reviewing rules are broken, so be it...
