I think some of you guys are forgetting that we're trying to break in a proggy that does not like distorted guitars.  Bands like Shadow Gallery and Pagan's Mind, as much as i love them are bad choices because of the distortion those bands use.  Porcupine Tree is an excellent choices, Pain Of Salvation is an excellent choice, Dream Theater can be an excellent choice, but bands like Symphony X are a HORRIBLE choice.

Both Deadwing and In Absentia are good albums to prepare peoples' ears for the distorted guitars of prog metal ... the albums are not really prog metal, but the rock and kick some serious ass.

I like Kamelot a lot ... but it's Symphonic Metal. Kind of "Diet Prog".
