Topic: i am on cloud 9! Posted: May 08 2005 at 12:18 |
i wasn't sure which section to put this in and i apologise to maani if its in the wrong place, does involve prog tho! A recent poll showed that there are very very few girls on here and that prog was mostly a male orientated type of music, but my new girlfriend loves all the same music as me! She is a huge Dream Theater, Opeth and Frank Zappa fan and likes other prog too! How lucky am I!

Ahhh -- ain't love grand?
My wife and I (mostly) share musical tastes, too. It's a good thing, as Martha S. would say!

For me its if she likes king crimson, all of pattons material, and the police all at once. if she likes those three things i think i can drop what i have now pretty easily.

Ooh, what a lucky man you are!
Nice find (certainly out of print).
When I first saw the topic I thought you were going to be talking about the George Harrison solo album.

An attractive woman from work recently asked me if I'd lend her a Prog Rock album, so I tried to find the least offensive thing in my collection and lent her IQ's 'Seventh House'. She didn't even get through to the end of it as it was apparently very boring!!! I should have gone the whole hog and lent her Fates Warning's 'A Pleasant Shade Of Gray' (which I love, incidentally)... I think that would have totally left her cold if she didn't like the IQ!

that's because neo-prog is distinctly unsexy and detached. too much
reverb on the snare and too many synthesizers. You need to give her
something sensual and deep like Sigur Ros or Talk Talk.

Heh -- in twenty years of marriage my wife and I have yet to find ONE
song we both like. She's into easy listening and Country and Western.
Sigh.

How absolutely gruesome for you, russellk! She asked for Prog hey_timj, if I was trying to jump her bones, I'd have lent her Barry White!
