Topic: The Beatles: Favourite singer? Posted: April 26 2011 at 16:07 |
John, the most distinctive voice; Paul the best musical singer; neither George or Ringo could produce much in the way of a vocal. Like most matters to do with the Beatles, it was the sum of their parts that produced the magic. A lesson for all bands.

Paul is such a gifted, versatile singer but Lennon's voice has a quality I love,so John edges out Paul by a small margin.

Paul is best singer as he went on to greatness post Beatles, with Wings and solo albums, however Lennon belted some of Beatles best work no doubt.

None is great IMO but George is the best by far.
John was too nasal and Paul too poppy.

I'm pretty biased toward John. He gets my vote.

While I think that Paul has the best voice, I enjoy John's singing more. The rawness of it is appealing--more of a rocker, I suppose, though I know that Paul can let it rip when he wants to.

George Harrison has a terrible voice IMO, relative to the main beatles leads.
McCartney has a gift for singing and it really comes out in later Beatles albums over Lennon's. McCartney's songwriting also came over Lennon's frequently as well. I don't know why he couldn't have had a more fruitful solo career, he just didn't take himself very seriously.

Oh John! John was always my favourite, the mystical angry freak. George became my fave in later cerebral times, but for visceral angst and true leftwing artistry, it's gotta be John (and I hear it in his voice). He always takes a lyric and makes it more unusual. Paul has a way of making stuff more normal. But, I enjoy him as well. However, John is the avatar!

Here's another vote for John. He was always my, as they said back then, fave. Lennon was pissed off from day one, and you could hear it in every song.
Not knocking McCartney, who can deliver a rocker with the best (I'm Down, for example).
